Best towns/area North of white Mountains
Thinking about heading north and looking for some in-put. Married couple mid 40's with outside income( so serious jobs not needed, will likely look for part time, maybe) Kids grown..... looking for nice, safe, pretty and relatively friendly town, that's reasonably price. Nothing to built up.
Not to worried about being close to things, but not crazy far either.
Most interested in Northern NH.....around or north of Franconia and Gorham
Any suggestions would be great. Thanks

Towns with low property taxes in northern NH would be: Bartlett, Jackson, Albany, and Monroe. Towns that have a village center include: Gorham, Littleton, and Lancaster. Towns that have the most ammenities are: North Conway, Littleton, and Lancaster. I would say Lancaster is the best town in Coos County based on my extensive travels through the area and talks with some of the locals. I would suggest not venturing any further north than the highway 2 corridor unless you want an area that is extremely rural with more poverty issues.

I'll suggest Madison, as it has a low population, fairly low taxes, and is very close to towns with tourism and amenties...
We're not north of the Whites, but more sorta smack dap in the valley.
Madison, NH

I suggest looking at Landaff. It is located over the ridge from Sugar Hill and uphill from Lisbon. I know of some farm houses for sale with a few acres of attached land. PM me and I'll get more info.

Sugar Hill is expensive but an awesome area. The views on 117 are absolutely incredible. Your average drive is extraordinary on the local roads there.

I'm not familiar with the far north but you might look at Jackson and Bartlett. Jackson isn't cheap but it has lots of restaurants and second-home owners/retirees. You'd be pretty close to the restaurants and hospital in North Conway and skiing in several places. You'd also be close to Storyland in case grandchildren arrive!
