Moving from Fl to NH in the next three weeks
So we are picking up and moving to NH in the next three weeks. My husband just got a job at Liberty Mutual. So I was wondering if I could get some input as to where a good place near his job would be to raise a family. We have four young children. Two of them are in school full time and one is in preschool. I stay home with the baby. Also is there anything I should know such as special driving rules or taxes? We are so excited and so ready to leave Fl Any information would be great!

Please let us know which Liberty Mutual location the the job is at. That will make a big difference in which towns are recommended...
There are no special driving "rules" but we do have state mandated vehicle inspections. We don't have an income or sales tax, but most towns have what could be considered a very high property tax.
If you've never lived in a cold-weather state before, you'll have many questions on how to deal with the snow, the cold, the winter... don't be afraid to ask questions here--lots of people will be happy to help!
Oh, and congratulations

There are several nice towns in the Seacoast region with very good school districts. Exeter comes immediately to mind. There's also the Oyster River school district which serves Durham (a college town) and the smaller towns of Lee and Madbury. These are all about a 15-25 min. drive to Portsmouth, give or take.
Remember that you'll be arriving in NH at one of the bleakest times of the year. It will be cold and everything will be brown. The snow should arrive shortly thereafter and you'll have to endure the whole winter right away. If you're not used to a cold climate it might be a shock, but hopefully you can stick it out to enjoy the other three seasons.
As for driving, you'll have to get used to the snow. Make sure your car has the proper tires and take it SLOW when the road isn't completely clear. Eventually you'll get accustomed to it. Fortunately, the plow trucks and salt are usually out on the road pretty quickly.
Also bear in mind that the road layouts in New England date from 200+ years ago and may not be as logical or easy to navigate as in other parts of the country. But you'll get used to all the twists and turns pretty quickly and figure your way around.

This is not an add but a recommendation. The LL Bean Outlet stores will become your friends. They do provide excellent winter cloths for reasonable prices. After you settle a bit a trip to the big store in Freeport Maine before the start of winter is considered a pilgrimage to most of New Englanders.

I second Greg's recommendation for LL Bean -- they also have outlet stores all over NH.

From what part of Florida are you moving from? Congratulations, by the way. We're less than a year away from moving (Orlando, FL area). What reasons caused you to make the move? Same as ours (crime, congestion, HEAT & HUMIDITY, etc, etc, etc....)? Good luck.
