Prime rib less $20 all you can eat?!?!?! I love prime rib....but I work Wednesday nights!
Lancaster looks and sounds really pretty and nice! We have company coming this weekend, but maybe next weekend hubby and I can check out Lancaster.....oh...that's the weekend Littleton has their "big doings"....maybe the following weekend. Hubby and I both have Fridays and Saturdays off (he also gets Sundays off, but I don't...sigh). From now thru fall our friends and families come up from NYS to visit - looks like a good place to take them to see the surrounding towns!

Hi roerinaci - It's called "Summerfest" and I did go last year, but it didn't "sink in" much then - I was still new to the area and pretty much just wandered around and grinned a lot <g>. Here's a link to it: http://www.summerfest03561.org/ . I thought they had fireworks last year, but I don't see that listed, so that may have been one of the other town events. I do know that I enjoyed it immensely - it has a "Community Day" feel to it. Last year the pancake breakfast was great, too!
Here's another link to what's going on in the area, not only Littleton but other towns as well: http://www.whitemtregion.com/events.php
They also have "Pollyanna Day" (the auther lived here, I believe), I didn't go to that last year and I have no idea what that involves - the only thing I can find about it is a "group picture"....I'll have to ask around about that one.
The "music in the park" series will be starting soon, both here and in Bethlehem. We went to a few of those last year and enjoyed them as well.
Some people who have visited the area say there's not much to do, but we usually manage to find something that "tickles our fancy" and have yet to be bored. Last year Lisbon had a "Lilac Festival" but I haven't seen anything about them having one this year so I don't know if that was a "one shot deal" or an annual event.....hmmm, just googled it and see the date is "TBA", so I'll have to keep my eyes and ears open about that.......

Vter - That's what I thought it said, but so far I haven't been able to find a date for it. Last year they had a breakfast (gotta love the community breakfasts! <g>) and we were sitting next to a guy and started talking. We told him we had just moved to Littleton, to an old farmhouse .... He looked at us, grinned, gave us exact directions to the house and then whipped out his cell phone....the next thing I knew he was handing me the phone saying, "Meet your new neighbor....my mother." <g> It really floored me - turns out the guy had grown up in the house where his mother still lived, so he knew the house we were in very well....It seems his mother and a couple of her friends drove past the house two or three times while we were moving our stuff in and "checking out the new neighbors" <g>
We were at the Flora Latte one night when they had an open mic and we were talking to people who were there; they asked us where we were from, we told them, and this one guy piped up "I lived near there for awhile - bet you never heard of Pine Plains"....Ha! Not only did I know it, I lived there and graduated from there - so did he - he was 2 years behind me in school! Talk about a small world
I guess I kinda went off on a tangent here.......sorry about that ...work is a little boring today!

Hi roerinaci - Gee, I don't know anything about the Lancaster Fair, but I'll bet nhyrnut or someone else here will. The Dutchess County Fair was "ruined" years ago, IMHO - it became way too commercialized and way too expensive to enjoy. It used to have a small "carnival alley" - the rest was rides (low prices), the agrigulture/horticulture exhibits and of course the grandstand area - Now, if you go and take you're family, you're looking at spending $200 easily....especially if you have kids who enjoy the rides. Anyway - hopefully someone else will know about the Lancaster fair! <g>

Lancaster Fair is Small, compared to Deerfield fair or Hopkinton Fair. But for the north country it is A Very large fair. I would say about 1/2 the size of Deerfield Fair in southern NH. But the Demolition Derby Is the best in the state. Lancaster fair Gets people from Maine, VT, and NH, as it is one of the few fairs in the area. But worth the Travel I wouldn't traffic is horrible due to it being such a big event here. And the fair isn't Any better than the ones in the southern part of the state.

roerinaci - From what nhyrnut posted, I'd guess the fair in Lancaster is smaller than the one in Dutchess County. I know, living in Rhinebeck, we HATED fair week because of the traffic - we lived right on Route 9 and often had to wait for long periods to get out of the driveway because the traffic was so backed up - one year I wanted to put a lemonade stand out front to make some extra $$$, but figured our landlord wouldn't appreciate it <g>
