Job market and apartments in Littleton
I have gotten some info, looking for more. It would be a radical move for us, but I don't mind 'being secluded' and lack of 'things to do' (big city things). We usually just do family things, go to parks, visit the library, movies, simple stuff.
Smileleyz, you have been fantastic so far with your candor and help! Thanks.

Littleton has grown a lot over the past few years and has seen some big-box development. Wal-Mart, Home Depot, Lowe's (not built yet), TJ Maxx, and chain restaurants. Depite this, downtown "Main Street" does not seem to have been too affected. Love the village bookstore downtown.
The local newspapers are the Caledonian-Record (daily out of nearby St. Johnsbury, VT) and the Littleton Courier (weekly I believe). I know the Caledonian is online, not sure about the Courier. You probably can also find apartment info in these papers.
Bigger employees in the area are Littleton Coin Co, and Littleton Hospital. I know Hitchner Manufacturing had quite a big plant there at one time, not sure it's status today.
If you're used to city/suburban amenities/convenience, it'll probably be a bit of culture shock for you. Great outdoor activities nearby though.
I grew up nearby in Vermont, so if you have any questions about the area, please post back.

Thanks for your reply, Vter. Yes, I am sure it would be a culture shock but considering we spend our free time now either 'at the supermarket' or the library or the park, we don't need big city things. (social life). The local movies and so on is fine with me. Like I have said, we are simple people who live in a place now that is not simple.
Both my husband and I think the country life would be better for our son. Also we are both going to volunteer when we settle in somewhere in NH, hopefully meeting more 'likeminded' people. When we moved last time (to PA,)I think we made the mistake not volunteering or putting ourselves out there a little bit. That's the best way to make contacts and meet others.
Thanks again for your helpful reply.
