No Car Garage Question ???
Hello everyone!
I have noticed quite a few houses in NH that do NOT have a car garage.
Are they harder to resale later on???
I wonder how do your cars do, without a car garage? In the winter,snow,etc...
Thank You,
Countrylv22

The cars don't last as long as they would in a garage. But this is not as big a deal as it might seem because most of the damage is done by driving them in the brine we coat our roads with because people don't know how to drive on snow. AFAK garages do add to the property value. If nothing else they provide space for the lawn mower etc.

Hello Gregw! Thank You So Much!
HELLO GREGW!
Thank you for the response! I appreciate it!
The thing is that everytime I find a house that I like and the price it ends up with NO GARAGE And I thought this was odd, because I have looked at similar houses in Vermont, and they do have garages (problem is I am NOT interested in VERMONT...) it seems that a lot of them in VT ended up making the barn into a garage, or they added it later...if its an older house....
Anyway, I just did not want to buy something that later on, I might have hard time selling, if that is something that people in NH look for, you know...
THANKS A BUNCH FOR YOUR HELP & INPUT!
Take care,
COUNTRYLV22

countrylv22 - The house we rented had no garage and when we bought our house, we couldn't use the garage because we had so much of our "stuff" in there and our cars did fine. Mine is a 1997 Tracer, my husband's is a 2005 (?) Kia something or other. Both cars weathered the weather just fine. My car did need a new battery but we expected that as it still had the "original" in it!

Hello Windchimes03561! Thank You!
HELLO WINDCHIMES03561!
Thank you for your response! I appreciate it!
Your garage sounds like mine! HA HA HA!!! I use mine for storage as well!!!
Whenever I see a CUTE/QUAINT house that we might be able to buy, no garage...Typically if it has a finished basement, then no garage and vice versa, I need to see which one is really the nost useful overall...
I appreciate the input, because I was wondering about how the cars survive those big storms...
THANKS A BUNCH!
TAKE CARE!

We kinda "lucked out" with this house - it has a finished basement and a garage and a carport, as well as a shed! <g>
On another note - I got all excited tonight - I saw my first moose! It was about 30 feet from the back door! The dog saw it first and started barking like crazy - I looked up and there he was....I yelled for my husband to come look, but by the time he got to the door, the moose was gone. The neighbors across the street told us there were 2 of them out there! When we lived at the farmhouse, the landlady owned something like 20 acres of forested land behind the house and all we saw there, 5 miles from town, were wild turkeys....now on a street off Main Street, we have moose! Go figure

Try RT 302 to Conway early morning or Late Night. I see 2 or 3 moose every day on that route. Actually almost hit one this morning. At Dusk is best after a hot day.

Hubby almost had one hit him the other morning on his way to work - he carpools with a guy from Bethlehem to Jefferson, I don't know the route number (I'm so bad with those things - I go by "landmarks" rather than route numbers!). Last year I actually went and sat by the road where they had the "moose tour bus" stopped and never saw one......I gotta say, they are ugly suckers (don't mean to offend anyone, but they ARE! <g>).
Now I just need to wait for the bears, fisher cats (?), bobcats, fox and porcupines they neighbors say they have seen here!

Hello Windchimes03561! I Am Jealous!!!! Ha Ha Ha!!
HELLO WINDCHIMES03561!
NOW I AM JEALOUS! JUST KIDDING!
I am happy for you!
You have exactly what I am looking for, a finished basement,a garage, a carport and a SHED!!!! WOW!!! And close to MAIN ST. !!!
And if I could also get wood floors, a fire place or wood stove, maybe a couple of french doors inside, and all of this in an affordable area, cute, quaint area in LITTLETON!!! And or in NH somewhere...
WOW! I WOULD REALLY BE HAPPY!
And I would be there TOMORROW!!! HA HA HA!!!
Oh by the way, in case anyone else reads this and thinks I am crazy, you can find this in different parts of the country with the price tag I want, but in the WRONG city, typically in TORNADO ALLEY (which I do not care for...) nothing wrong with TORNADO ALLEY.... except that I personally cannot stand their summers, and I am NOT crazy about TORNADOES!!! Other than that beautiful towns....nice people!
CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR FIRST MOOSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyway, thank you so much!

I was browsing the board and came upon this thread and do believe it is appropriate to once again bring up this topic, as this year was one of the heaviest snow fall for the past 40 + myears in many parts of the USA.
Having lived once in the Finger Lake Region of NY State. I can tell you that yes, having a 2 car garage will increase the value of your home. However, any good car with adequate anti-freeze should be able to start his/her car at the first try even if the temp is 10 below zero. back in 1972 I had a 1972 Chev Monte Carlo and it would start up on the first try even in sub zero temperature. And even when buried with heavy snow as well!
