You'd actually be suprised- many states on that list (far lower) have a mucher higher cost of living. I think perhaps the indicator is "financial well-being"...I remember seeing a study that showed out of the states folks in NH, even if they had a lower income- were financially better off (less debt, etc) than other states, etc...

except that not all crime is from riff-raff. plenty of bored middle-class kids are responsible for plenty of crime. And drugs are not just an inner-city problem, where do you think the remaining 60% live? Hopefully (and 3 years in a row indicates) NH raises kids to be a bit better. Sure, not all; but most.

Hello Leaving,

I'm pretty sure Las Vegas was the worst out there, I could be wrong though. I do know Harry Reid ruined Nevada with his horrible ideas though. And these Illegal Aliens are no good at all.

Glad to hear those stats, and the crime stats are one of the first things I'm looking at when I'm researching a town in City Data.

Another statistic you all can be proud of. It seems as if NH ranks highly in every quality of life ranking.

I would add one more thing to BF66389's list of factors contributing to our low crime rate--bad weather. People aren't as inclined to commit crimes when they first need to trudge through snow or go outside in a torrential downpour. The highest crime rates are in the sunny southwest and Florida in part because of the nice weather there nearly year round.

I think it's because this is such a great state, most people are just too happy to think nasty, criminal thoughts.

Hmmm! You know, I don't think they ever filmed an episode of "Cops" in New Hampshire!
