You should try "The Little Spot" on White Horse Pike in Somerdale. Lol.

Seriously though, just go to Philly. It's close enough and has way more bars and clubs.

If your DUI / drunk driving concern is low, I'd probably do Philly as well. Either you are driving there or driving home from the PATCO. You could take a cab from the train, but then it becomes an issue of how big of a hassle are you willing to endure to go to the city. My hassle tolerance has become extremely low. We moved over here from the city and virtually never go back anymore. Not because there aren't a ton of things to do, just too much trouble for us.

Anyway, Dubh Linn Square is on Evesham in Cherry Hill. It's an irish pub. The food is solid and they have a good beer selection if that is your thing. They have bands and all of that on weekends as well. And continuing on beer selection, The Pour House in Westmont is real good. I don't know how much singing and dancing there will be, but just sayin'.

Cabs from NJ to Philly are extremely expensive. PATCO runs infrequently late at night. You are pretty much left with driving. You could always sober up before heading back. Don't drive back drunk, or even tipsy, especially if you live in one of the more heavily policed areas like Marlton. No worries about DUI checkpoints in Philly itself, but once you get into NJ you need to be careful.

Checkpoints shouldn't be the concern here. You shouldn't drive drunk b/c it's stupid and it put other people's lives at risk.

It's not that bad, I think it's like once every 45 minutes between 12 to 5, or something like that. You just have to time it right. PATCO is one of only four rapid transit systems in the country that runs 24/7, which is pretty impressive. The other three are the NYC Subway, PATH which is North Jersey's version of PATCO, and the Chicago L.

In general, a driver should avoid Marlton roads drunk, tipsy, or sober. Their police are awful. Route 73 in Marlton has this bs "safe corridor" designation which accomplishes nothing at all except making the (most likely unfair) traffic violation you get even more expensive to pay. By the way, if you get a DUI in Marlton, they immediately post your mugshot on their facebook page.

Screw Marlton, it's a scumbag municipality and I am glad I don't live there.

As for checkpoints - yes they are an issue. If you are drunk enough to be driving stupidly, they can pull you over for probable cause. Checkpoints, on the other hand, are an intrusion on our fourth amendment rights. 0.08 BAC is an artificially low limit; plenty of people can drive just fine at 0.08, myself included. Then again there are also plenty of people who drive like crap even when sober. The limit should be raised to 0.1 BAC again. You can still nail someone for DUI at a lower BAC level if their driving is actually impaired. It just makes it tougher on the police to prove you were DUI - they have to show your driving was impaired, not just that you had a BAC above some arbitrarily low limit.

don't count on that. I know 2 NE Philly cops who do weekend checkpoints at Frankford and Deverox(sp) and my co worker got pulled over in one and had to blow in Huntingdon valley over the weekend.. On Valley road.. Be careful. According to the cop friends I have, its an easy money maker for the county as they catch many people on the weekends.
