I have never seen a day laborer site in NJ. Does anyone know why that is? I have been told up in North Jersey there are many of them. Are the cops in South Jersey too fascist to allow undocumented workers to stand around looking for work? I know there are large Mexican communities in places like Vineland and Lindenwold, both places I have spent considerable time in, but never seen day laborers. What gives?
This is NOT intended to be a general discussion of whether undocumented immigration is good or bad. Please keep it on topic.
I've seen a couple sites with them. The one that sticks out in my mind is a home improvement store in the Berlin area. When I worked for a landscaper in college, we occasionally swung by there to pick up extra help. I'm not sure why you don't see a lot of them around, but it may have to do with the large numbers of farms that soak up the workers, especially in the busy seasons.
