i am going to a concert at the Beacon Theatre in NYC. can someone tell me, what is the closest train to wilkes barre/scranton, pa to 2124 Broadway, New York, NY? i would like to drive from my home in PA to the closest train, then let it take me to the city. is this a good idea? has anyone ever done it? i'm certain they have, can you tell me where i start? i am not familiar with subway systems at all. thanks! lynne

You'd be coming into NY Penn. Take the 1-2-3 train (any of them will work, they all stop at 72nd) uptown to 72nd street then walk three blocks north up Broadway. You can't miss the Beacon, very safe neighborhood.

The closest train would be the Montclair-Boonton or Morristown line, but as of right now, service on both of those is suspended until further notice, plus they don't run late into the evening.

Best bet might be to park in Bridgewater and take the Raritan Valley line. It's $4 a day to park there. You'll have to change trains in Newark but it's easy. You won't make the 11:08 back after the show, but you'd easily make the 12:28 am that arrives at 1:12 am.

If you don't want to drive home afterwards (it's two hours and a lot of deer!) there's a Hilton Garden Inn half a mile from there.

There are multiple trains and lines that will do it and each would be a different combo of driving/train. The issue right now is, depending on how soon you are going is to figure out what trains are actually running and on what kind of schedule.
