I need some advice, though it be late in the game, my closing is still 19 days out. I'm purchasing a house in Pennsauken (08109). Its on the east side of rt 130. I am hearing mixed reviews on Pennsauken. The neighborhood seems decent, and the majority of the houses maintained nicely. Can anyone give me some insight into this area, trends, thoughts on what the area might be like in 10-15 years.
Quick back story; I don't have kids, and do not plan on any so schools are not a factor for me personally. I also choose this area because of its proximity to Collingswood (patco), with the hope that now as homes and taxes in Collingswood have gone up so much that people will start looking in adjacent towns...yes/no?
thanks :-)

Where you bought is suitable for you RIGHT NOW. But I would be skeptical considering what that area will be like in 15-20 years. Kind of a big risk buying a house in Pennsauken. You are on the good side of town, but it is on a definite downward path as a whole. Not such a good investment, IMO.

I grew up in Pennsauken, what street is it near? Pennsauken is pretty big. If I remember correctly, 08109 is by the Middle School. If so, it is pretty nice over there and I haven't heard anything negative.

You will be alright. I live in the Delair section of Pennsauken. I've been here 7 years now. I haven't had a problem.

My in-law lives in 08109, close to Rt. 38, not far from Cherry Hill, and the area has always been okay and well maintained for more than the 25 years that I've been going there.
