Hi - I'm considering taking a position in Philly, I currently live in Westchester County, NY in a middle-class/upper middle class neighborhood with a nice diverse mix of cultures. I'm an African-American professional and would like a community that has a sampling of other middle-class/upper middle-class African-American professionals. Are there any towns that fit this description within an easy commute to the Comcast Center? I'd like to keep commute time to less than 45 mins each way, either driving or on the train.
Any town on the Patco High Speed Line will work. It's hard to say where though without knowing more information like housing costs. Nevertheless, you can either take the train to 16th and Locust in Philly and walk about 5-6 blocks to the Comcast Center or get off at 8th and Market, transfer to the Frankford El, go to 15th and Market and walk two blocks. This last method is especially good in bad weather because you can actually go from 15th and Market to Comcast underground.
The longest you will travel is from Lindenwold to 15th - 16th and Locust and that ride is 28 minutes.

Thanks! I'm flexible on housing costs, not sure if we will rent or buy just yet. Willing to spend more for amenities...up to $2k a month for rental or up to $450k-500k for house.
Have you thought about living in Center City Philly. Very diversified and you could walk to work.
I "lifted" this from the Philadelphia Board. It may help
