I have been doing research and I like the "feel" of Oaklyn. What do the natives think?

Cheers,
Shanny

Oaklyn's local reputation isn't the greatest. It is a decent small town, however it is very close to Camden and has suffered from some spillover. My impression of the town is that it has more lower working-class type people.

Similar small towns close by that have much better reputations are Audubon, Westmont/Haddon Twp, Haddon Heights, and Barrington.

Shanny - there's a woman in here selling a home in your price range in Burlington County? Completely upgrade 4 bdrm, 2 bath ranch for 225K. She talks about it in one of the other - house pricing drops or is it a good time to buy threads (can't remember which one). Is that in the area you are looking in? I have no clue as I am a Northjersey gal.

You are better off sticking to Cherry Hill, Haddon Twp, Collingswood, Haddon Heights areas. I personally don't like Barrington or anything that close to the White Horse Pike.

Yeppers! The experts (I mean that in a totally complimentary way) are right.

We saw about 8/9 homes yesterday (I am really losing count as we see so many a day) and I got the same feeling when we toured the homes in Oaklyn. It is very confusing with Haddon Twp. It seems to wrap around towns making it difficult to wonder where on earth I am. Am I in Haddon Heights, Collingswood, Oaklyn, ETC...

Well, we put a bid on a home in Cherry Hill. We are waiting to hear.

I really appreciate the advice here. That is why I ask.

Thanks!

~Shanny

With Haddon Twp - you want to make sure you are looking in the Westmont section which is the main section running from the White Horse Pike to the Cooper River. There are 2 other sections of Haddon Twp near the black horse pike which aren't that great.

So which part of Cherry Hill is your prospective house in shanny? Good luck with the bid.
