I believe a reason Frankie is looking to relocate is because of family. If a valid reason for leaving the state is to follow family, why is it not a valid reason to come back if family is here?

To be honest if my kids hadn't moved to Florida I probably wouldn't move there either......if you don't have family your life is pretty empty.....but that doesn't change the horrible economic and taxation situations in this state. Family just seems to make it a little more bearable.

That is too funny! A move for me and wife would not happen for a few years but I want to do my research so I know the truth about some areas that I have always liked.

Trust me apart from the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area the rest of Florida is devoid of culture and is a big suburban sprawl mess. This includes cities like Orlando, Tampa, and Jacksonville.

Have you driven through South Jersey lately ? Talk about a mess of suburban sprawl...... and maybe I'm blind but its doesn't seem to be a meca of cultural events either ?

Not that bad ? In comparison with what.....the rest of Jersey ? I suspect if you disclosed what you paid for your house and what the taxes are you might give this gent from Florida a heart attack......as far as New Jersey auto insurance being "not that bad either" I would tell you that my kids (married and 25 years old) are paying half of what they did up here. "Not that bad" is something said in New Jersey by those that want to feel better about the insane cost of living here.........is anyone aware of a state in the lower 48 that has more stiffling taxes than New Jersey ????

If you feel that way about South Jersey that is close to cities like Philadelphia and driving distance from NYC. I can imagine how you would feel about the cultural void that Florida is. But good luck on your move, maybe you are ready for Florida at this point in your life. Most older folks like Florida.

How about we all chip in to buy FlyersFan a bus ticket to FL? Still enough time to pack and catch tonight's 6 pm bus (right after his early-bird dinner at Red Lobster)

I truly do not understand your hostility... Why are you attacking me?

We paid $260k for the house. its only 5 years old. (1/3 acre sod with sprinker system, fully landscaped) perfect condition house with 2 decks, an oversized 2 car garage and a heated and air conditioned 20' x 30' workshop. Fireplace, 3 bed 2 full bath and large sunroom house. Tax is $5000 year and the cost for car insurance for 2 new cars is $110 a month. I think its a hell of a deal. we are signing the papers Friday. Be happy for us. We live in Philly, this is a heck of a step up for us!
