Default Is Camden really getting that much better?

Hey guys, I was just wondering about Camden today. I haven't been there in a few years so I wouldn't know, but after being listed as the most dangerous city in America a couple years ago it has dropped to number 80 this year ( So I read somewhere, I forget which source ). Also, in the the Forbes poll it was nowhere to be seen in the top 15 most dangerous. Has it gotten that much better or have other cities around the country ( Mainly poorer cities ) gotten worse because of the economy, etc? What do you guys think? Also, if any Camden residents want to share their opinions, that would be great.

I think cities nation wide are getting better and only cities like Detroit will always stay at the bottom. But that's in another league than Camden. It's funny to see how Kansis City is all muggings while Phila is all murder. There's no way to measure really.

I drove through about 6 months ago and that is about all I would do there. Top 80 out of how many? 1000, 2000? Still top 1%

Yes, it's still in the top 80 millsan- but it dropped 79 spots. There's no question it's still dangerous but at least statistically it has improved a lot in just a couple of years.

According to the Congressional Quarterly Press, Camden is the 2nd most dangerous city behind New Orleans (2008)-

Camden might be ranked 80th somewhere but it's like...

The other 79 cities had somewhere between 1,000 and and 1,080 incidents and Camden had like 999.

Statistics in Camden's case don't mean a whole hell of a lot.

Captain- once again I'm not saying it's paradise... All I'm saying is that is an impressive drop for a city always in the top 5. No, I'm not planning on moving there just yet, but you would think people would look at this as some sort of a positive not a negative.

That was the old one... This years one has Detroit #1... Camden not in the top 15. Philly is ranked 15th in this years Forbes list.

You need to cite your source. What source stated that Camden is the 80 most dangerous city? And, with this source, was Camden #2 last year? I ask this because I want to make sure you are citing your information from the same source. After all, it would be somewhat fallacious to state that, for 2009, Camden is #80 in "an un-named source" and last year they were #2 in Morgan Quitno's rankings. What does the two rankings have to do with one another. And, again, what source did you pull that #80 ranking from again?

When Morgan Quitno releases their rankings in 2009, I guarantee you that Camden will be in the top 5 again. Please do not delude yourself in thinking that Camden has gotten any safer. It hasn't.
