Hi all

I'm wondering what your thoughts are about Cherry Hill. I understand that the East side of town seems to be known for the "better" high school, but I'd love to know more.

Are certain areas safer than others?

Honestly, if the East side is mostly snobby and rich, I'd rather my kids go to school on the other side of town if it's more down to earth.

Does it really matter? Which areas would you recommend?

thanks so much!!

I live in Cherry Hill and it's all nice. The west side is solidly middle class and the east side is a mix of middle class and upper middle/upper class. The more expensive real estate is on the east side. I don't have kids, but the schools are supposedly very good on both sides, with the east side having an edge. The nice thing about the west side is it's more convenient to Philadelphia and most of the major shopping centers and restaurants in Cherry Hill, as well as the library which is the best library anywhere.

Feel free to private message me if you have specific questions.

like sassy says. All of Cherry hill is pretty good. East rates better according to the greatschools website, but you can't do bad with either school.

There is to me a significant difference between the east and the west side. I have lived here my whole life and reside on the west side. I cant wait to get out of here. It has gone down hill over ther last 25 years. My neighborhood in particular is terrible. DONT MOVE HERE either east or west.

When we are just talking about schools, there really isn't a difference. Regardless of where you live you have the choice to send your child to either high school.

As for real estate and other things, you really can't go wrong and it all comes down to your price range and what you want to be near.

LOL I think you are right, seeing that that person's user name is "DISLIKECH" I can only guess what CH stands for.

While East is typically ranked better than West, both have made the top 100. East is ranked 57 out of 322 and West is 91. Both have improved slightly from their last rankings in 2008.

I don't see anything wrong with either side of town actually. Both sides have nice "desirable" areas but the west side is a bit more congested and that is also probably where most of the affordable housing is. Definitely most of the business is out that way, of course the mall is.

Many people are surprised to learn that Cherry Hill East is very diverse. While it is true that the larger homes in Cherry Hill are located on the East side, there is also quite an ethnic mix. There are apartments, condos and even low income housing (not much) that feeds into East (high school). The school has its reputation because there are many high achieving students at the school. Some families choose their neighborhoods so that their children can go to our schools. The homes on the East side tend to be younger and larger than the West side. The commute into Center City is not bad - we often go into town for dinner or entertainment (and of course work). Cherry Hill is also very advanced in its sustainibility efforts.

I live in cherry hill. You can choose which high school your kids go to east or west. Doesn't matter which side you live on. Both school are good. East tends to be more "clicky". My daughter will start west next year. Hope this helps .
