Default NJ Title Insurance and Reissue Rates

As I understand, NJ title insurance rates are the same everywhere but I heard there's a discounted rate called a reissue rate which is similar to a rate you get if you refinance instead of purchase. Consumers qualify if the previous homeowner/seller has owned the home less than 10 years.

Are refinance and reissue rates the same thing and has anyone had any luck getting this rate?

I heard that a reissue rate is kept from consumers because obviously it's discounted so not revealed to them.

For my loan, a title insurance rate is 2080, but the refinance/reissue rate is 1488.

I guess if you use the same title insurance carrier, that may be the case.

Joe how were you able to get the reissue rate? Did you find out what title company the previous owner used? Or did you also get a copy of the previous owner's title insurance?

I've asked my buying agent to get this information from the seller but am not sure if they will cooperate.

sorry it was just a refinance on my own home. i am not sure if i sold my home now if the buyer would get that. i'd try to get it for them through my lawyer (who ordered the title insurance).

I heard companies are reluctant to reveal this information and you may even need to call the parent company to find out.

I have a feeling it's still available and will be doing some research myself.

That it true, there is no reissue rates as of March, 2009.
If you need a NJ Calculator go to PA Title Insurance Rates, Calculator - Philadelphia, New Jersey. You need to know your loan amount and previous loan amount, so refinance rate (cheaper rate) will be given.
