The existing light rail currently ends in North Bergen. The project would extend it beyond North Bergen to Englewood/Tenafly. So from Tenafly you'd be able to take light rail down to Hoboken/Jersey City. You'd switch to PATH or whatever to get to NYC from there.
I'm not sure if you'd have to switch trains in North Bergen (because isn't NJT considering going diesel on the Northern Branch?) or if they'll electrify the whole thing so trains can run through.
It'll be great for people in Bergen Co who want to travel to Hudson Co, and maybe it'll be better for people who work in Lower Manhattan (replace bus + subway with light rail + PATH) but for most people who want to commute to Midtown NYC, the bus will still be the faster (one-seat) option.
Is the River Edge train station ever going to be fully developed or will it still look like a DUMP.
Its a nice station , and no its one of the few stations that getting developments built next to it. Oradell , Emerson , Westwood , Montvale , will not get developments either. The Hackensack Stations have developments underway or planned , New Bridge Landing will be getting a Medium development , Park Ridge has a few developments proposed , Teterboro has a development planned.

Most of the Metro North , PATH , and PATCO plans like New lines and stations is very likely to happen. NJT is different , although adding New stations to existing lines is cheap and these days paided for by private developer like Wesmont , Laurence Harbor and Canal Crossing. The line extensions like to Philpsburg or to PA are starting to pick up steam , along with Funding. Most of study's are completed , so the only they need now is funding. Which should be easier sometime later this decade , when the TTF is fixed. Intill the Transportation Trust Fund is fixed only smaller projects will be constructed.
So when are these developments going to take place. New Bridge Landing and River Edge when. And what does it mean development. A few condos, or more. Can you explain for these 2 stations. And just because there are plans does it mean they will actually happen.
River Edge is not getting any developments at least at the Regular station , New Bridge Landing is. I heard anywhere between a few dozen apartments or Condos to a Retail / Condo unit. The New Bridge Landing Development would take up the entire area around the station from what I heard. That would be a few businesses would be demolished to make way for the Development. TOD and Developments along Rail lines tend to happen 5 years after there announced and most of the Developments along the PVL have gone up and sold out within a year.
Do you know when the light rail to Paterson will come and if so do you know the stops?
The Bergen - Passaic line is on hold for an unknown reason. Bergen County wanted more stops added to the line and NJT didn't seem prepared. Its a cheap project , so hopefully later this decade.
