Hi,

We are relocating to NJ from NC in a few months time and are planning to rent an apmnt/twnhme. My husband's company is based in Franklin Lakes which, I guess is in Bergen county. At the moment, we would like to make the commute as minimum as possible until we get familiar with the area. So, please suggest any reasonably priced apartments or townhomes for renting in the sorrounding areas. Thanks in advance

Mia

Its me again, adding a few more lines to my post. I did some online research and to my dismay couldn't find any 2 bedroom apartments for less than $2000. Is this the case with the surrounding counties too? I sincerely appreciate any advice since I am almost tempted not to move

Franklin Lakes is one of the wealthiest communities in the country, and apartment rentals in that community are most likely very limited.

However, there are nearby towns that are nice where you could probably find something nice. Do keep in mind that this is a very expensive area in which to live.

I would recommend checking out the following towns, all of which are decent towns and not too far from Franklin Lakes:

Hawthorne

Wayne

Fair Lawn

Mahwah

Ramsey

North Haledon

Oakland (Apartment communities may be limited in Oakland and North Haledon, but they're worth investigating.)

Ridgewood (Almost as fancy as Franklin Lakes, but there are some apartment complexes within the town that may fit your budget.)

BTW, Hawthorne, Wayne, and North Haledon are in Passaic County, but they're close to Franklin Lakes.

Good luck!

Thank you very much. This should really help in narrowing my search. I find it appalling that apartment rentals in NJ cost more than the mortgage of my single family home in Raleigh!!!
