This is nothing new- NJT had quiet cars back when I was riding the NEC to NYC a couple times a month back in 2005-2007. They may have discontinued it for a while, since it sounds like this is a "new" offering, but it's more like a "renewed" offering.

If i were running NJT it would be a very efficient agency.

They would be kicked out of the car.

Wow, I can't WAIT! It seems some people just cannot unglue their cellphones from their heads these days, and will *** and *** for the entire 50+ minute commute, completely disregarding those around them who don't want to hear their BS. I feel there's a time and a place for everything, and anyplace where people might become a trapped audience to these jerks should not permit cellphones any more than they do smoking.

NJ Transit USED TO make announcements trying to remind folks to keep their conversations short and quiet, but they seem to have discontinued the practice ... not like it helped much.

I am ALL FOR THIS, and hope the pilot is made a reality ... maybe on alternating cars, rather than just the first and last ... so that quiet riders might also be able to find/use a scarce restroom.
