Can you imagine if some Joe Liberal President ORDERED say South Carolina, Alabama, Mississippi,Texas- so called bastions of conservative red america to ASK State Employees to cap their pay ???? We would all be hearing None Stop whining about socialism & STAY OUT of LOCAL ISSUES.

If someone should cap School Superin's salary, it should be VOTERS in these specific local towns and districts.

When the towns pay for it completely on their own, they can have complete say... but when they ask the state for help... for money, the state will have some say...

Furthermore, as proven in poll after poll after poll in the great state of NJ, the number 1 issue, year after year, is the property taxes... we have ASKED our State government to get help with lowering property taxes... if that includes getting involved at the local level than so be it. Christie is simply doing what the state has asked him to do. There is no hypocrisy, he's doing his job.

and of course borough administrators won't listen to voters...

they're in cahoots with the teacher's unions. if one group's salary is cut, the other will follow, so of course they'd like to keep it inflated by taxing the hell out of residents.

you think this gal wants to lose her cushy $145,000 salary by listening to voters?

http://www.northjersey.com/news/8562...nistrator.html

$145,000 in Tenafly BEFORE benefits, wow.

You'd think this was some position in Newark to fight gangs/drugs. That must be a big squirrel problem they have over in Tenafly.

nemmert,

Oh I applaud Christie. He is doing what he was elected to do.

Its the hypocrite who goes DIRECTLY after the person who is making the $165K a year. Criticizing the job description of the person making the $175K. Those critics are the hypocrites.

They are no different than their liberal opponents who want equality.

As for Christie, I support what he is doing. He was elected to do what he is doing.

If their adult son or adult daughter was the one who got an M.S. or a PHD & got a job at Millburn or Bernardsville paying $185K, you think these people who be whining.

It many many cases, its the people who NEVER bothered to go to college, NEVER Bothered to go for a Career track that eventually had a 6 figure potential who are the LOUDEST whiners.

You can whine & protest about salaries. But please, don't label yourself as some " ConserAvative Republicans who believes in the Free Economy & does not want Gov't to Interfere.

You are no different than a socialist or a liberal who is protesting pay equality.

Did you go to college?

I'm gay, college educated with Masters, and have voted liberally based on my previous experience of being in an industry that's not welcoming to my kind.

The basis for any type of intelligence/education that you preach about is to continually question the supposed "ideal."

Once you actually corroborate and crunch the numbers, it becomes pretty clear what PUBLIC SERVICE exactly means.

The private worker serves the PUBLIC employee, not vice versa as intended.

And in these hard times, just to make sure NJ residents will keep inflating public pay/pensions/benefits, they'll take your State refund if you pay those property taxes late. Teacher's daughter needs a new car.
N.J. towns could take income tax refunds from homeowners late on property taxes | NJ.com

, Christie is doing what the voters asked him to do.
We voted down the school budget, replaced 2 BOE members, but the budget was approved by the town, we will have to wait to replace the council members.

Administrative Salaries

not 1 instance of $50k that you like to paint a broad picture with.

click "Teachers" in the drop down menu and starting BASE pay is at $70,000+.. add the costs of benefits/pensions/and great vacation package, that salary is well above the "base"

many are over $100,000. use numbers and facts with your arguments, unless you are clueless on how to use excel, as most teachers are, which is ironic as we're on the subject of education.

plus you're claim that those are Administration jobs mean nothing.

look at the numbers and job titles, a ton of "Administration" make well over $100,000.

i wanna see numbers, not the "pity me, i'm a poor teacher" rhetoric. numbers. you do know how to use numbers right? assuming you teach its implementation correctly to the kid$$$.

What lies of poor teacher? Are you reading what I write? I think all public employees should make $10 and hour. Make everyone suffer. They are all scum and deserve nothing less from the might taxpayers. Ten bucks and hour but at least they have a job.

Ahh, attempting failed sardonicism by using extremes to bypass the point raised.

You sarcastically said:

60k? JUST ONE!

Administrative Salaries

The more realistic number is $$80k,$$90k, and above $$100k, BASE, with Superintendents well above $$200,000.

Throw in benefits/pensions/vacation, and that number is quite larger.

You can twist and turn all you want, but the numbers are right there - unless you forgot how to count, education being second priority and all after salary.

Who, precisely are these "the same characters" ?

It seems to me that your position is so indefensible, that you've resorted not only to a kind of ad-hominem, but you take it up a level and attack a straw men -- basically insulting an imaginary opponent.

I could, but it's not really relevant to the New Jersey forum.
