Of course Penn Station is one of the worst stations in the US , but Amtrak , NJT , & the LIRR are planning to build New Stations & Yards under Manhattan to fix this. Thats also Amtrak's problem , NJT and the LIRR have no control over the NEC and Tunnels. Hench why the LIRR is building a New Tunnel , and we are doing the same. Amtrak plans to after were done.

i am not bashing, i am providing links to well documented failures in our transit system that needs help. wake up and embrace the changes rather than resisting and accepting poor quality. If you do not like it do not comment on the thread.

No your seeking out problems that are out of NJT's control like your first article. Amtrak controls Penn Station , nothing to do with LIRR and NJT. The Diesel lines near me never have problems.

Well ... from my own personal experience, I would say it depends on your perspective. Ever since their monumental 25% increase, I get to spend, on average 50% more time on the train, due to delays, cancellations, breakdowns, and tresspassing/suicide incidents. So, going by how much of their time my steerage takes, I'd say they have become much more efficient. An added bonus is that, currently at least, most of the cars have working AC. So I'm getting 50% more AC for 25% more $$ (IF I can fit on a car that has working AC, that is).

AC= Atlantic City line? Trespassing/suicide incidents can take a while , trespassing incidents rarely cause delays. Suicides can take hours , depending on who owns the line , it can be a fast or slow investigation. What can i say , the heat causes engines to shut down. The New Diesels and Electrics shut down when the Temp reaches 135F to prevent damage. South Jersey will get better give it a decade.

Its not funded properly , the 2 articles clearly show that Amtrak caused the delays. The Second article was pure whining. The Montclair line has the lowest fares and best ontime service yet they still complain. What tax increase? The Northeast Corridor controls 85% system , Amtrak runs the NEC. Amtrak has been underfunded till last year thanks to Obama and 57 Billion $$$ NEC Overhaul. NY Penn has very little space , hench why were building 2 new tunnels and stations. So is the LIRR and Amtrak will as well but you have to wait a decade. Overtime the systems will get better and faster but it will take alot of $$$ and time. I can't complain , the Bergen - Passaic Network is rarely delayed and fast.
