We are looking for houses in Bergen County within Closter, Demarest, Cresskill, Tenafly and Leonia. Now we need to narrow down which town has the best services for SN kids. My DC has mild ASD, and needs some help with socialization, but otherwise very high functioning. DC is currently in a top of the line private SN pre K, and we are thinking of moving next year after finishing PK. What is your experience with SN education in those towns? Which town is considered the best with services? What I really need is good inclusion program where DC will be assisted in a very caring way, or a program that is designed for high functioning PDD kids.

Commuting is an issue, so that is why we want to stay within Closter, Demarest, Cresskill, Tenafly and Leonia. Harrington Park supposed to have good services, I heard, but it might be adding too much to our commute. We might be doing as much as 2 round trips a day to the city because of work. Please give me some input, even you have heard anything about SN education in those towns. Thank you so much in advance!!!

My wife is a social worker in a special needs school and we also have a child with autism. My wife recommends Closter and Demarest. They are both Region 2 schools. You are right about Harrington Park, they do have an excellent services. We just moved our child from Westwood to the Valley Program, which comes very highly recommended.

I also have a son with sp needs and looking to move to a good school district with excellent sp needs programs. Not familiar with Valley Program. Could you explain what this is?? Thank you!
