The state legislature is full of them...
Congress has it's share too.

Yes, and there are even ads in the classified section of The Record. If you're willing to pay more, of course, you can find hookers with teeth, no running sores, and a real bed.

I know a young woman who was an "escort" with the same company that Client 9 used. She got fired because she kept nodding into her dinner plate when she was out at fancy restaurants with rich executives.

I tell you the drugs are real sad story that go hand and hand with this. I almost feel sorry for these ladies. However people live the way they want to live.

The woman I know who was the escort is, amazingly, in recovery for a couple of years now. She's struggled with heroin since she was 16, involved in a major drug bust along the way, went through the revolving door of rehab a few times, did some time in Clinton, but she's nearly 30 now and this is the longest she's made it. She's living a different life. I hope she makes it.

My hopes are with her. I've known people in my life who have had addictions of several sorts (chemicals, religions, sex). It's so hard to know the right amount of "tough love" that will help, and each individual needs their own type and amount of assistance.

FWIW, I wish her the best.

I'm a fan of prostitution. For years I never saw anyone in Jersey City that was clearly a hooker. I've been down Tonnelle hundreds of times and never saw anyone that was clearly a hooker. I finally figured out that Ocean Avenue is the place to find women who are obviously hookers. There do not seem to be near as many here as in some other, smaller cities I'm familiar with, however.

Part of the problem finding them in the metro NYC area is that people walk here. So just because you see a female walking on the sidewalk, that doesn't mean she's a hooker. In some other areas of the country, there's at least a 90% chance that if you see a female walking on the sidewalk, she's a hooker, because people just don't walk up and down those streets. They drive everywhere instead. The more sure thing here is to go to a "massage parlor", or check out the ads in the back of the Voice, etc.

I remember an incident about 20 years ago, when I working on a repair in Newark, intersection of Frelinghuysen Ave and Poinier St. I had to go back out to my vehicle to get some office supplies for the account, when I saw this dazed female, walking down the street, just like out of Fort Apache the Bronx. She was wearing the stereotypical outfit, everything hanging out, and she just kind of crumpled, and leaned onto the side of the building. I went back into the office, and told the receptionist to call the police. She asked me what the girl looked like, and proceeded to tell one of the other workers to 'tell Frank that his girlfriend wasn't feeling well'. It turns out that the co-worker was openly a regular customer of this prostitute. She wasn't the only one in that particular neighborhood. Whenever I went to this address, there were regularly others, but they were mostly visible one block over on Sharman St. There were regular incidents where they would be in front of Shabazz H.S. I am not sure if that condition still exists, but I know for certain it did back around 1990. Then again, I had a friend who used the DMV in this neighborhood (drove from Caldwell) so he could have his car pass inspection there with only a milk crate for a passenger seat. Times were really different back then.

Tonnelle Ave was most DEFINITELY a hotbed back then. It was to the point where I am not even certain the police could even enforce it. Of course, you could also see it without much problem right before the entrance to the Holland Tunnel.

Five years ago, when I lived in South Jersey, the most notable area of activity was the off-ramp on 676 to Morgan St in Camden, which led to the shipyards on Broadway. Lots of truckers, plus off-ramp in an area where prostitution is the least of problems in a neighborhood, equals lots of activity.

I'm in my 50's and lived and worked in JC the entire time. Hookers have frequented that area for as far as I remember. 45+ years and will still be there when I kick the bucket.

A little off topic, but, I was in a nail salon and an Indian man walked in. The salon owner asked, "Can I help you?" The man looked around and walked to the back, looked in the back room, walked back up front and told the owner, "no, I don't believe you can".

We surmised that he was looking in the back room to see if it was maybe a bedroom??

We all got a good laugh out of it, that's for sure.
