i'd probably take a studio in shipyard over my friend's building. he's in the Citadel. It's all private owners I believe, but if Sq Footage is nicer in the Citadel, then I'd take that. Though ShipYard is a nicer location, Citadel is close to the NJ Bus route to the city.

Thanks for all the tips. I emailed a bunch of places and got responses for current openings. Now I have to either just pick one based on pics and apply now, or wait until I get there, hope they would still be available, and stay in a hotel for a couple days so I can view them all in person first.

That's good to know about the employment. In Southern CA they usually ask for a recent paycheck stub which I always find so ridiculous. Or sometimes they even decline people unless their rent isn't a certain percentage of their annual salary.

I'm starting to get a little excited about it. It's supposed to be one of those fun adventures but then I started getting really stressed about it now that I'm leaving soon. I hope I can leave all the stress behind and actually enjoy this experience!

Well I arrived a couple days ago. I'm starting to look for rentals in both NJ and NY. The Shipyard is really nice, probably too pricey for me unless I get a great job fast. I love the location, gorgeous views and the buildings seem well-maintained from what I could tell.

So I'm settling in central Jersey in an affordable place until I find something permanent. I was getting depressed thinking it will be impossible to find something. I have two possibilities tomorrow but I've told myself it might take a couple months to find something decent. *sigh*

At least I'm here though.
