Default Information about Scotch Plains - Maritine Ave to Terrill Rd

I searched, but the information I found is pretty old. My family and I (wife, 8 month old, and dog) are looking at a temporary rental house in Scotch Plains. Off Cooper between Maritine and Terrill. My wife stays at home and is a fan of walking with our child. Is this a family friendly area? How about parks? I will drive to work, but how are the trains to NYC for weekend entertainment? How are the restaurants in the area?

EDIT:
This is near the Ash Brook Golf Course. The property owner said this is Scotch Plains, is it? On Google Earth it looks like a well groomed neighborhood, with homes built in the 70's or so, on large lots. The house I am looking at is on Frances Ln.

Thank you
Todd

I don't know about Frances Ln specifically, but I have relatives in Scotch Plains who went through the schools and all. It's a family oriented area definitely. Can be very expensive, but that's just my opinion. I don't know about parks, but there are lots of golf courses around. It's very green, leafy, quiet suburbs, not much else around.

Cooper Rd area is one of the most desirable in all of Scotch Plains. It is a beautiful road this time of year with all the trees, but fairly busy with traffic. If I remember, there is a walking path on one side. Anyway it is very safe & lots of parks are an easy drive. Also Union County has a dog park at Echo Lake Park in Mountainside- only about a 10 min drive that I think they are redoing.
