Hi,

We are planning to take the Amtrak from Hartford down to Trenton, then walk over from the Transit Center to the Marriott at Lafayette Yard.

This would be arriving in Trenton at about 10am on a Wednesday morning, and we will have a rolling case each so obviously will look like travellers.

Is there any reason why walking the 1/2 mile or so from the station to the hotel should be a bad idea (other than the weather !!) ? We know the city has a rep as a crime hotspot, but never been there so don't know what to expect (but we do live in a big city ourselves so are comfortable with "sketchy"...)

Any thoughts from folks who know the neigborhood would be very welcome.

Thanks in advance !

I don't think you'd necessarily be putting your life at risk by doing this, but on the other hand, it's not the best decision you could make. Just take a cab to the hotel. It would be really easy to get one at the station, and it would be a five-minute ride.

10:00 AM on weekday the whole area is crawling with state workers. 10:00 PM I would say no way, but aside from rain, there's no reason not to walk.
