All I see is paterson, newark, and trenton. Only others I was thinking of is Union city and jersey city. I was just looking for other cities that are not as close to new york.

You mean Neighborhoods of the cities or the which cities are unsafe. Camden , Irvington , and Trenton are unsafe cities. Newark , Paterson , Jersey City , and Elizabeth varies Neighborhood by Neighborhood i would say it varies 60-70% of each of those 4 cities are safe. That all depends on who you ask , most Suburbanites will say the cities are terrible and unsafe most of what they say is exaggerated......

That said as Nex said in places like JC, Elizabeth, Paterson, Newark even Asbury Park it depends on the neighborhood
