Can this be done by bus / train / some form of public transit? I live in Brooklyn and would like to visit the waterpark at Mountain Creek this summer, but I have no car. Is there bus service between Nyc and Vernon? Obviously the trip would involve at least an overnight stay in Vernon, probably longer.

I found a thread about communting to Vernon from Nyc, but it didn't really go anywhere because most posters agreed the distance was much too long for a commute Commuting from Vernon NJ to NYC. But I am not planning to commute, just visit.

No. There is a service that runs seasonally in winter on NJ Transit, but nothing during the summer. You can grab a ride from Urban Sherpa. I don't know how much it costs. You may do better renting a car and driving.

Call Mountain Creek and ask. They know better than anyone.
(They may have buses leaving Port Authority.)

A Roundabout Way: Take a bus up to Warwick, NY and then take a cab south to Vernon.

Warwick has no taxi service, only limos. It's awful when you need to get the car serviced.

Mountain Creek actually recommended Urban Sherpa, too.
Mountain Creek Waterpark Directions and Hours (http://www.mountaincreekwaterpark.com/pages/hours.html - broken link)
If you click US' events, adults are $60 including admission. Regular admin usually cost $29.99, so I guess the ride is another 30.00

I’m planning to go here this weekend, too. But I’ve never been to Six Flags Hurricane Harbor or Splish Splash in Long Island, NY.

Does anyone know if Mountain Creek is better than all these attractions? Thanks!

Default Mountain Creek is Better

Yes Mountain Creek is the best water park in the area. It is tucked away in the mountains and has the most exciting slides in a spectacular mountain setting.
