The bill (A3466) would require training for most public school employees on how to spot bullying and mandate that all districts form “school safety teams” to review complaints.
Superintendents would have to report incidents of bullying to the state Board of Education, which would grade schools and districts on their efforts to combat it.
I am watching on TV and they had a grown man who is 48 years old crying on TV and saying he has been in therapy since he was 10 because of bullying
I think this bill is completely unnecessary and a big waste of money.
I haven't read the details of it, but on the basis of principle I'm against any reactionary laws enacted in response to one incident. Usually they are bad for many.
Maybe if we had some solid laws against bullies perhaps their would not have been a Columbine. Bullied kids seem to get even in the worst ways.
Of course if your kid is a bully I guess those laws seem a waste of money.
On the other hand if you kid is being bullied just tell them to man up like you did.
I'm on the fence, not sure. There have always been and always will be bullies but I think the gadget age of cell phones, you tube etc has brought it to a different level.
In this particular case I think this individual had many issues and the incident may of been the proverbial straw that broke the Camel's back, hence the suicide.....but that said I don't comprehend suicide, I can't think of anything happening in my life where suicide would be better than life...
