LookinginNJ is on a distinguished road
Default Rahway,NJ

I am living in staten island. My husband and I moved here from NJ two years ago (shore town), to cut our commute to work. We hate it because, the school system is not the best, and we want good schools because we are about to start a family. We are looking to move back to NJ. Can anyone tell me about Rahway? Is it a good place for children? Are the schools good? Is there a lot of crime? Are there gangs? (Where we lived in NJ, crime was a foreign word. No one ever seen it or heard of it.)

Thanks

Rahway is iffy I think. My cousin lives there with her 3 kids and her neighborhood is nice. Others aren't so great. She is also a teacher in the school district. I think it's pretty middle of the road-not the best and not the worst. All of her kids do well in school and her oldest is now in college so I guess they did alright with the school system I would say check it out and just watch what area you go to.

It's over congested with cars, pollution, crime, violence, gangs, the toughest state prison in the country, and hardly any grass anywhere. Reconsider.

Wink I agree

with Pattiv: There are many other town which are much nicer/safer/more grass/less prisons...etc.

If you venture south on Rt. 206 there are many nice town, such as Bordentown, COLUMBUS, etc etc.

If thats too far, then consider little towns like Milltown, North Brunswick, South Brunswick, Monroe...just trying to help.
best of luck to you (really- stay away from Rahway)

Thank you all for being so open and honest with your replies. Please keep them coming. I am not originally from NJ, so I would like to hear from those who live there and know about/have information on Rahway. So many, many thank you's.

Rahway isn't that bad. Surrounding towns are a bit nicer, but Rahway isn't a place that you should fear like Newark. My friend grew up in Clark (right by Rahway) and now lives in Rahway and lives in a very nice, safe and quiet neighborhood. However, if schools are of the utmost importance, while schools in Rahway aren't horrible, schools in surrounding suburbs are somewhat better so if you can afford it, it may be better to look there.

Seriously reconsider. You're better off (I can't believe I'm saying this) staying in Staten Island.

Default It doesn't look that bad

My friend lives in Rahway and her neighborhood is very pretty. Lots of trees, grass, clean and well kept homes. I know Rahway has a side that doesn't look so good (I think that is Rahway City) but it also has a very nice side that is very pretty and quiet.
