I think we should make a mention of Officer Jason Marles of the Ocean Gate PD who lost his life Thanksgiving Eve. A drunk driver rear-ended him on the Parkway as he was returning home to Pt. Pleasant Beach from work, causing his SUV to leave the roadway, flip and catch fire. His funeral took place today.

All indications are that he was as stand-up a guy as they come, taking plenty of time from his personal schedule to help out folks in town and go the extra mile.

I read that, it was so sad & he had taken overtime to do a DUI detail and a drunk hit him

Such a sad, sad story. My daughter was enroute to NYC early that morning for the parade and saw the scene. I am aquainted with his wife from when we lived in NJ. They have 2 beautiful, young children. RIP Jay 271.
