My husband and I are in our early thirties and currently live in Hoboken. I work in the city and he works in Morristown. We currently have no children but plan to have them in the next year or so. We love Hoboken but are in desperate need of more space! We looked in Westfield and loved the neighborhood, especially its proximity to the downtown area but we would like more property and even lower taxes. Can anyone recommend any neighborhoods that are similar to Westfield that have good schools, easy access to restaurants etc. Our price range is anywhere from $400k-$900K. We heard Clark is a good town but we do not know much about it. We would love recommendations, suggestions etc. Thanks!!

Spend the extra $ on Westfield, you won't be sorry. I don't think you will find the type of downtown you are looking for in Clark. Check out Cranford... Good luck!

Thanks! A part of me would love to just settle in Westfield but I feel I can get a lot more house and a bigger yard if we look elsewhere. The homes we did see in westfield were nothing to brag about most were new contruction (which I am not a hug fan of) with small yards that were going for close to $1million. I guess we just have to be patient, luckily we are not in a major rush. If anyone has any other neighborhood reccomendations we would appreciate it!

Wink in the same boat

I'm in the same boat...Im looking right now with my fiance and we are narrowing it down to clark, westfield, summit, springfield and cranford.

But our price range is tighter...between $350k-$450k

just keep looking and be patient...you'll eventually find something.

If you can spend that much money, I'd look in New Providence honestly. There are houses for sale all over Murray Hill that have just sat on the market forever. It's got great rail access, you're right off 78 and 22, and you're as close to summit as clark is to westfield. Better schools. Plus it's overall just a nicer area, though Clark is a great place to live.

I grew up in Scotch Plains, right next door to Westfield. I was within walking distance to downtown and the price of homes are perhaps a bit more reasonable.
