This February was so fridgid , I could hardly inhale outside.
Our friends moved to Beaufort ,SC two years ago and love it.
We've checked it out and have visited a few times plus the Bluffton area and will be heading down that way as soon as my husband can retire in a few years.
Need to get out of this rat race!!!!

Hey no disrespect. but personally: I'm sick and tired of people talking about New York and all their glitz and glamour but to be honest There is nothing glamourous about NYC. You talk about rude drivers well maybe driving isn't for you because that's anywhere you go. Besides Jersey before compared to now is different. We now have New Yorkers moving down here so all these bad drivers you're talking about you can't just say ALL Jersey drivers are bad. That just my two cents

66nexus, tahiti and JersyM Fers,
I used to really like living here untill about 5 years ago. Maybe I should have included that. True, things are not so black and white. The reason I say I really hate it here now is because truly I find the people getting ruder and the traffic worse, my area just more generally more congested and myself and my husband more stressed out. This is not the NJ I grew up in. Yes, I guess I did paint a rather broad picture but that's just because I am thoroughly disgusted with it now. Funny how I can love the fast pace of NY as well as the more "sedate" South.
Now I'm getting reflective and starting to remember the way it used to be....but I still want to leave.
OK--now you guys have me feeling a bit guilty. I do still like parts of the Jersey shore. I like Madison...but still there's not enough to make us want to stay. The reason we love NYC so much is for the great museums, the restaurant's, Lincoln Center etc....I do happen to think it's pretty glamourous! Not us, but the city in general is so diverse and cutural, c'mon!
Guess it's time for a change for us though.
As far as the sweltering heat of the South plus a "few strong winds"
I guess it's all a trade off.

From Jersey-Hate New Jersey
Ah...this is great. You hate Jersey and apparently moved out to the South but yet still managed to find yourself on a NEW JERSEY forum. I don't even think you're from here. And that doesn't mean people aren't allowed to hate Jersey, but I read into things, and when people express hate on another level it makes me wonder... You remind me of divingallout. Ya both hate Jersey so much but you absolutely MUST join this forum to express it. Hmmm...I wonder
I was born in Rancocas Valley Hospital in Willingboro, and I graduated from that dump too. I lived in nasty ass Pennypacker Park, so don't tell me I am not from New Jersey. I couldn't wait to graduate from there, and leave the state. Thank God I did! Willingboro is nastier than when I left it. J.F. Kennedy High School is no more and so is Levitt Jr. High. Everyone pretty much has left, and everything started to get run down. Crime was up and now the kids run around in gangs called The Mob. Please.....Now people who own convenience stores close them down when they see students from Willingboro High School get out of school in the afternoon. My parents were from Colorado, and we only lived there at the time, because my father flew for Pan American back in the day.

Jersey ****s:
I have been to Beaufort, South Carolina. There is also a Beaufort, North Carolina too. It is beautiful down here, and the people are friendly too. Now there are too many people from up North moving down here especially in Wilmington, North Carolina. It feels like little Jersey in a few spots.

One more thing--I absolutely HATE when somebody from another state puts NJ down.
Don't ask me why.
You can believe that I'm not from NJ if you want. I don't really care to debate that point.

Hi Crazy Daisy,
Thanks for that. Our friends really find the people very friendly in Beaufort too.
We really like it there the few times we visited. They also said a lot of people from the north were re-locating there or near some of the other coastal towns.
I always used to get the Beaufort in NC mixed up with this one! I believe they are pronounced differently, aren't they?

Yes, the one in North Carolina is pronounced Bow-fort, and in South Carolina, it is pronounced Buu-fort.

Okay so tell me now why the entire state of New Jersey is a dump just because YOU didn't like Willingboro. Tell you the truth, I've never even been there, but just because that part of the state sucked for you doesn't mean this entire state of 8 million plus is a dump(though a lot of people like to generalize it in such a way). I didn't truly appreciate Jersey until I went overseas. We have so much in our country(of course) but definitely in our state. Not wanting to live in Jersey because it's too expensive or just may not be your element is one thing; but NJ-bashing on your way out just isn't cool. You can hate NJ all you want, you're from here for the rest of your life. I for one will not miss you(not that it matters anyway)
