Ghetto scum we tried to escape

Though I moved from NJ several years ago to Chapel Hill, NC, I think NJ gets a bad rap. Yes, it definitely is too expensive, yes it is too congestive, and yes there are many bad sections. But there are many bad sections in any state. Any!
Once you get away from the hectic North NJ, or stay away from Camden and AC, there are many beautiful parts of NJ. The western part towards PA, Princeton, Westfield, Summit, .... Have you ever been to Bernardsville, Basking Ridge, Mendham, etc... those are beautiful areas. NJ is definitley for the wealthy. But it has some awfully nice farmland, still a great shore state, and yes, close to the city (NY and Philly).
So alot of negative, but balance it out with the positive too. Fair is fair.
I left because of cost. I wanted to buy a home and couldn't afford it. But i enjoyed my time there.
bad areas:
Camden #1
Newark
Paterson
AC
Trenton
Elizabeth

.....the negativity and ignorance continues 1 year after the initial post. amazing.
While I enjoy community and talking to my neighbors outside and inviting my neighbors over for the kids birthday party or summer bar-b-que - I would rather be in the middle of the road. Nowhere like Livingston, Basking ridge, Edison, Roseland, East Hanover - where snooties reign supreme.
Nor would I want to live in poverty striken neighborhoods.
Bottom line is wherever you don't want to live, it's home to someone else and anybody who demeans someone else's home is cruel. Not everyone in camden is totting a gun, not everyone in Elizabeth is a gang-affiliated immigrant, not everyone in Newark is living in a condemned home - - the mindset of some of you is truly sad and speaks of the box you live in. . . the one place where I would never want to be.
Living in a area where the demographics aren't 75%+ white is my type of neighborhood. Diversity is important and will enable my children to understand and appreciate all cultures - thus enabling them to be better than some of you - with a willingness to help and even tolerate those in bad unfortunate situations.
sad sad sad.

That's a good point. Where is the "middle of the road"? Can anyone name a few towns that are right in the middle? I think I live in one, but I'm not even sure.

Er...Isn't your statement above in direct contradiction to your statement below?
Just sayin.

Hmm. Bill Gates and Warren Buffet are neither products of "diverse" communities, yet they manage to help more poor people than you or I could help in 1000 lifetimes.
Strange how that happened.

Not with the diversity soapbox again.
That has never been the real world either.
Enabling you to be better?
Living in your head is just as bad as living in a box.
Yes this is an ignorant thread. Just keep piling on.

I can name a town middle of the road which I think is great Jefferson Township, or perhaps Stockholm NJ!!!! This is middle of the road. I think its got a lot of things going for it. I find most of Morris County middle of the road. ITs not where I am from Bergen and not the ghetto.
