Pennsville, Penns Grove, Carney's Point
Can anyone give me pro's and con's for moving into this area, we are from Rochester, NY, and have secured good jobs in Voorhees.
I thought about Millville because of the Tax Base, but its an hour away from work...long drive.
It seems to be a great commute from Penns Grove area, and reasonable housing prices compared to other places I've looked at...what are the pitfalls...?...someone refered to it as "Cancerville", Why..?
what area's in town are considered "Bad"...for all three towns...?

This is just my opinion...(please no offense to anyone who lives there)
I think it is SCARY down in the Carney's Point area. Scary in the sense that a lot is run down. Stores are closed when they shouldn't be. Abandoned farms.
Is there anyway you could afford to be a little north of there??? I think you may be happier in Marlton - Cherry Hill area. More suburban.

Agree w/LilMsSunshine. Penns Grove is very run down-only claim to fame is Bruce Willis was born and raised hell there. Cancer rumors may be related to Dupont-lots of polluted water. Have you thought of Delaware? Not a bad ride-very low taxes and no sales tax.

I say go for it...
Penns Grove and neighoring Carneys Point are lovely communities on the Delaware River. This is where Bruce Will comes from. Both are lovely and extremely historical.
The Penns Grove website is: http://pennsgrove.wordpress.com

Probably because of the nearby nuclear plants and oil refineries

I recommend staying away from these towns, they are run down and probably not a great investment. Stick closer to Voorhees in Camden or Burlington County

Just an FYI, Bruce Willis was actually born in "the then West Germany". He did grow up in Penns Grove.

another correction....
Bruce did not live in Penns Grove. He did attend Penns Grove Regional High School but his childhood home was located in the township of Carneys Point. Both are in Salem County, NJ.

I wouldn't live in either for free.
If you want, go a little further north to swedesboro or logan township. Also, Woodbury and surround area is good if your watching your pocket.
Rent or own?
