Possible Job in Cherry Hill, NJ
We currently live in Denver and my husband is considering a job in Cherry Hill. We thought the offer was good until we started looking at the property tax issue. OMG!! I can't believe the price! Our house payment would be about $3500 or more!! How can people live like that? Anyway, my husband is use to a 30 min. commute and I am wondering if there are any good places just over the border in PA that are nice? Any suggestions? Also, other than right in Cherry Hill or within 10 minutes from there, what are some good places to live? Within 30 mins or so. What does anyone know about Williamstown? Please help!!!!

Just a suggestion, but check my last reply to "South Jersey Info!!" Stratford is much more affordable and just as quiet and peaceful as Cheryy Hill. It's just about 20-25 minutes drive in the AM rush to Cherry Hill, depending where it is he has to go in CH. If looking for bigger homes, check Voorhees and Marlton.

Chadds Ford, PA
I lived in Chadds Ford, PA for 18 months. Very pretty but I am retired and I only rented. This area is very close to all Highway's and next door to Delaware where you can tax free shop for anything from computers to shampoo. I moved back to New York City to work again full time (I am retired NYPD) and be closer to grandchildren. I personally know a West Chester, PA owner/broker realtor so if send me a pvt. I will give you her name.

The ride from Chadd Ford is a little too much but probably worth it. Cherry Hill taxes are expensive but the little towns like Stratford, etc are just as much if not more per $100 accessment. It's New Jersey. Pa taxes may be less but not by much. Housing is usually more. Jersey gas is cheaper and you are not alowed to pump it yourself. Williamstown may not be a god fit and it's about a 45 minute ride and not an easy one and their taxes are going up.
Coming east is a real culture shock (tax wise) if coming from the west or the south.
But, you would be hard pressed to find a better school district than Cherry Hill. Your children will be well prepared for college. About 98% from Cherry Hill go to college. It's a highly professional town (not small) with lots of shopping.
Good luck!

Burlington County has more reasonable taxes than Camden County. Have you looked in Mount Laurel? Taxes are still high but cheaper than surrounding towns. Any place in NJ has high taxes. PA really isn't that much cheaper. The more affordable housing with lower taxes is in the far exurban areas and your commute to Cherry Hill would be hellish. I really recommend staying in South Jersey.

Burlington County typically has lower taxes
try looking at
Cinnaminson (08077)
Delran
Riverton (also 08077)
Palmyra (08065)

Commuting from Williamstown would suck, anything involving 42 or 168 is a parking lot with the shore traffic.

Cherry Hill
Cherry Hill is large, it could take you 30 minutes to get from one end to the other. Where exactly in Cherry Hill.
I am afraid you will not be able to escape the taxes. I would recommend Burlington County, Marlton, Mt Laurel, Moorestown, Medford are all nice and pretty close. You could get as far away as Southampton/Vincentown and Tabernacle to Cherry Hill in 30 minutes. The taxes are a bit lower there and The schools are good. I would stick to the Lenape school district in Burlington County...although Moorestown is good too..ok great.
I grew up in Cherry Hill, and then lived in Southampton for 10 years, my taxes in Southampton were approaching $9,000.
You need to look at what taxes you may pay now that you may not pay in NJ. I am in Georgia now, my property taxes are lower, but I have to pay for trash pick up, Ad Valorun tax on my cars, A Home Owners Association fee, and the grocery stores are much more expensive here, so you never know, it may not be as bad as you think.
Good Luck!
