Hi everyone, we are hopefully moving to Westfield in a couple of months time. I am currently pregnant with no. 2 and need a recommendation for an obgyn and maternity hospital. I don't drive and also have a toddler so an obgyn within walking distance from Westfield downtown would be great. We are on the south side. I have also read good things about overlook medical center. Many thanks!
St. Barnabas is the best but I hear Overlook is fine too. My wife went to an ob/gyn on Springfield Avenue, so we can't help with an office you can walk to from town.
Note that Westfield is good for fertility. You'll have more than two if you move here.
Good luck - mortgage rates are down to 3.625 on a 30 year fixed (hope you don't have to sell stock for the downpayment!)
Hi everyone, I have noticed that this thread doesn't seem to be very active anymore since most of the above posts seems to come from 2011. Do you know if there is a facebook page for moms/babies/toddlers in Westfield, please? I can't wait to move to Westfield:-)

There is one for Cranford, and nearby towns are discussed quite frequently. Moms who live nearby or are planning to move nearby are usually welcomed into the group.
we used overlook for the birth of our daughter. We used some of the services of St. Barnabas during pregnancy. But ended up staying with Overlook and using Summit Medical Group.
As others have said, Westfield is fantastic arguably the best town in NJ. But you pay to live there. Your income is fine, but I don't think you will find a house that doesn't need a lot of work for $500k. With that income you might be able to stretch another $100k and get a better house, depending on your child care costs.
Proud born and bred Westfielder here...I graduated WHS in 2010 so my age may be a factor but it is crazy to me that Westfield has such a reputation! Reason being I've lived in Hoboken, Wood-Ridge, & work in Wayne. For all the fuss and price pretty much no one knows what Westfield is or where it's located. I just say "exit 135". Everyone seems to have heard of Scotch Plains though, go figure
Should add that living so close to "Westfield Garden State Plaza" doesn't help with the confusion.
