Yes the taxes are insaine, and the sad part is they are still rising with no foreseeable end in sight.

I understand completely but the level that the taxes are at now are just ridiculous. I can understand a happy medium but in my area a new construction 3000 square foot home should not cost between $15,000 and $20,000 a year in taxes. That is just insane!!

This would mean your taxes are rising at just over 8% per year which is about average across the country. I know that the inflation rate is a lot less than that over this period, but this is a problem faced all over the country. Jay

My wife grew up in Louisiana and she went to a very good school. They had a good suburban police and fire dept and plenty of nice parks. People are friendlier and everything is cheaper. Overall, salaries may be lower but not as low as you might think. If you are a professional, its negligible. One of the reasons why taxes are high is because they do it and get away with it.If you take NJ,NY and Ct out, nobody around the country gets ripped off like these states.I know you may say that this is where most of the jobs are but the fact is,all those other people around the country still own their homes and have jobs. I wish everyone in NJ would just get together and not pay their taxes for one month. Would they take away everyones house?

Pennsylvania and Virginia are reasonable in the tax dept but you are right about MA. Doesnt california have a flat tax rate?

I find that the key to a sucessfull career is to be in the top 20% of whatever field you are in. I have read that the top 20% of realtors make 80% of the sales. I believe you should find a field that your interested in and learn as much as possible and be one of the top performers. Even in the Union trades the most skilled members are the ones most requested by employers.
Good luck..........and remember the old saying...."It's 10% inspiration and 90% perspiration"

North Jersey?
...Within about 40 minutes of NYC. I'm not talking about northwest Jersey.
McMansion?
Take your pick. Define it however you want. For $500,000, you could not get what any reasonable person would consider a mcmansion in a safe neighborhood. Perhapse you could get one in East Orange or Irvington, but that is not what I am talking about.

in other words you don't know what you're talking about
I live way south of anything that would ever remotely be considered N Jersey and I am 40 minutes from NYC,
I will not comment on such a vague subject, narrow your parameters

Somehow I think I could lead a happy life without a comment from you on this subject.
Of course if you drive south 40 minutes from the outerbridge crossing you wil not be in North Jersey anymore. Since you cant seem to grasp a subject as "abstract" as North Jersey, Central Jersey, and South Jersey, I'm not sure how much I would value your opinion anyway. Have a good day.
