Day Care in Mendham...I give up!
My husband and I are *THIS* close to writing an offer on a house in Mendham. But we have two kids, ages 5 and 20 months and it appears there's no full time child care center in Mendham...is that true? What are working families in Mendham doing for child care? Is it all nannies? Or would I be the only working mom in Mendham (in which case I have a much bigger problem)??!!

You might be outnumbered by stay-at-home Moms. It's a little outside of Mendham (despite the name), but Mendham Country day was very good; sent both our daughters there (that was 7 years ago).

Looks like there is one in Chester a few miles away.
Why would it matter if you're the only working mom in Mendham? Which you would never be anyway.
No one cares what anyone else does. Honestly.

I live in mendham and have a little one. There are no full time daycares in mendham. But there are options in morristown, Randolph and Chester, depending on where you'll be working. We moved here last year and love the quiet lifestyle. It's not for everyone - too remote, but for some it's great!
There are definitely both working and stay at home moms in the area.

Where do you work? I believe the Somerset Hills YMCA has a full time one, and they have locations in Bernardsville and BAsking Ridge just off of 287. It's about a 15min drive, but if it's on your way to work then it may not be out of the way.

Really? Everyone may say they don't care, but the issue lies beneath the surface in many places. Both groups occassionaly show some resentment/attitude towards the other group, and it can definitely have an impact on interations all the way down to play groups.
It is not crazy to have at least a moment of concern if you think you will be the only working Mom in a neighborhood or vice versa.

Honestly, I haven't seen this issue play out in real life.
I hear about a lot in the media and stuff, but in real life, most moms on both "sides" could not care less.
I guess if you're not around during the day, you might not be able to do playgroups, but if your kid is at preschool or daycare anyway, then you'll make friends there.
