Hi all,
I am getting married next year! I work in NYC, and my fiance works in Moorestown, NJ. We think a good area to live in given our working conditions would be in Princeton close to the Princeton Junction station. My commute would be approximately 1.5 hours one way (train), his commute would be approximately 45 minutes one way (driving). We are looking to rent.
We only have 1 car, and are not planning on getting a second car because it supposedly takes years to get a parking permit at Princeton Junction, so it wouldn't do us any good anyways.
Therefore, I am looking for suggestion on which apartment complexes would be either close enough to walk to Princeton Junction station and/or have a shuttle to the train station? So far I have researched possible apartment options being The Mews as well as Avalon Princeton Junction?
I'd appreciate the help. Thanks!

You have done some great research!
The apartments at the Mews have a shuttle to the station (less than a mile).
Avalon is probably under 2 miles to the station but there is a bus (the 612?) that stops at the entrance to the community on Clarksville Rd. and goes to the station.

WHEELS
If you need to get to and from the train station without a car, consider WHEELS Route 976/977. Like a bus, its schedule and general route is fixed. But it will pick up and drop off at or close to your house, and you need to make a reservation. Call Lion Tours (a New Jersey Transit contractor) at (609) 890-9228 by 3 pm of the day before you want to travel. You'll need exact fare (they'll tell you how much) or you can buy a monthly bus pass.
The abpve is copied from a website for West Windsor which used to be a great website but is not updated any more. (its a private one not the regular township)...
I dont know if this is totally up to date but it's worth a phone call. I know there is a fixed route bus I see and there was a website WHEELS but it is not working. I have definitely seen that bus 976 on Clarksville Road. hope this helps or someone else can chime in.

I agree that the Mews is probably the best choice. Another consideration could be Windsor Woods which is really close to the Mews on Meadow Road.

There is also a new complex going up on Clarksville Rd. West Windsor Gardens.

kekee726: Thanks for the suggestion - however, it seems like it is still a mile further out... unless they have a shuttle? 465 Meadow Rd, Princeton, NJ 08540 to Princeton Jct. - Google Maps
Lucario: Thanks for that suggestion as well... is there any information on that complex online? I have not been able to find anything so far for West Windsor Gardens.

They changed the name. It is now Princeton Terrace at West Windsor, right on Clarksville Road near the intersection with Meadow Road.

No real mystery there... "Princeton" sounds a lot more prestigious than "West Windsor". The real mystery is why they didn't use the "Princeton" name to begin with.

A former co-worker lived in Avalon and was constantly complaining about it. Then again, she'd complain about the sky being blue, so take that with a grain of salt.
