Hello
New to this scene scene, but lived in or near Millville for over 35 years
It has changed drastically. The comissioners made a deal for (grant money) to build up arts district. I believe it was for the relocation of 1500 people or families from north of hear. I believe it was families on public assistance, (Do not quote me on exact numbers or status of families.)
I suggest subscribing to the Daily Journal They are also on line & keeping up with the Headlines & crime blotter section.
High St. is Beautiful and for the most part safe. But be leary 2 to 3 blocks off of it after hours. But there are a few good areas but you will pay for it in taxes, Check Taxes / Cumberland county over internet before investing.
Taxpaying residents seem to be paying for development of area, my taxes doubled!
Yes if you like to shop its great, just like Deptford or Hamiliton mall area.
Mayor & most of commissioners need to go, or step up to the plate!

I live in Millville ... its just like any other medium sized city really ... it has its bad neighborhoods and good ones
the problem now is that the crime from Camden has found a home here and the middle of the city is infested with section 8 housing
It has the potential to be "small town America" but it doesn't look like its going to live up to it
I would recommend a place like upper deerfield if you are looking at cumberland county

Any other recommended towns near Milville/Vineland....to move to???
May be moving out there and my brain hurts from the bad things I hear..... and I've been on the forums from the Daily Journal and boy, that's not help infinding the "positive places"
I have children and DO NOT want them in more crime than we face here in Chicagoland....
any help would be much appreciated!

You might want to consider the other side of Bridgeton, meaning more rural areas, such as Hopewell, Shiloh, Stow Creek, Greenwich, etc. These are 1/2 hour from Millville and Vineland.
These places have their pros and cons, just as with any other location. But Cumberland County in general is becoming a bad spot- thanks to poverty, immigration, gangs, poor govermental leadership, etc.

Landlords can Help

The town is blighted, no doubt about it. But this is the time to evaluate properties, just like stocks--buy low sell high. Rentals are flourishing and landlords are making a killing. The upside is to hold till that damn track is built in august 2008. The entire complexion will change and Millville will become a destination.
Dont ask me how to rid the vermin out of the rest of the City, but I am looking at this, like atlantic city where there are attractions, and a blighted city . A friend told me that the real culprit is the ACLU which will come down hard on folks ridding these thugs from their homes and theres not a damn thing that can be done.

Landlords can Help bring a town back. Landlords must be alowed to Judge Good from Bad tenents. Tenents who work , respect neighbors and neighborhoods , take care of property , pay rent on time , dont over crowd a space are the types you want renting your property. Landlords must be alowed to Evict troublemakers Quickly. Gangbangers , Drug dealers , Loiterers and those who blast radios so it can be heard by others must Go.

If you really want to know what it is like, come to Vineland or Millville after dark. One thing thou, please make sure your car doors are locked.
The 2 safest towns in Cumberland County are Newport and Franklinville.
Good Luck.

Franklinville is not in cumberland county
