If you have kids, I would definiely not move here unless you can afford private school. I am a Vineland teacher and I do not recommend them.

Default Ha Ha Ha

Look I have live in NJ for 90% of my life. I have worked from Las Vegas Nevada to Broadway in New York. Let me tell the people something about NJ. It may have a bad rap and it may have its "undesirables" but people act like every state doesn't have it.

Is Vineland or Millville going to make the cover of Homes Monthly or America's 10 best areas? Of course not. The area is too large to be controlled. The problem with these cities is that they are too big, and gov't spending has to be managed better.

The new race track the new homes being built in Vineland with $9,000 + tax assessments is to bleed those same undesirables out.

So for the people that have screen names like "CrabbyLady" and say the school systems are not good, and are teachers at that. You are doing the people that read this no justice, just like you do no justice to the tax payers that pay your salary with that shietty attitude that you take to school every day to teach our kids with. [/font]

Get off YOUR overweight ass and do something about than.

Coming from the experience of someone who has only ever lived in Vineland, and in this same house their entire life:

Vineland is certainly safer than millville. I would NEVER live in the 08360. Only the 08361. 08361's boarder is Main rd. Most commonly known intersection is that near Acme and Burger King, Chestnut Ave and Main Rd. East Vineland is a wonderful place to live. Might be slightly loaded with farmland depending on where in East Vineland you choose. I think the best area to live in East Vineland is anything off of Dante, magnolia rd, or hance bridge rd. There are many beautiful homes out there, and sometimes you can find a huge brand new home for cheap. Right now they are building homes at the intersection of Spring Rd and Lincoln Rd. They are beautiful and a great size. I believe they are going for $225-$265k. Taxes here are a killer. We have a 3000 square foot home, and pay about $8000 in taxes.
The majority of crime here is in 08360, or Vineland City downtown. If you live in the 08361, when you call the police they will be at your door within 2 minutes. When you live in 08360..... it's a different story. Never go anywhere near 6th, 7th, or 8th streets. While it does NOT happen daily, that area is known for Gang activity, shootings, and stabbings. Things rarely happen in my area of 08361. We all have alarm systems and as soon as someone even gets close they back off. It really is a beautiful area as long as you pick your place. I actually don't live far from the 08360/1 boarder... but I love my neighborhood. Only complaint is no sidewalks.

Me, I hate setting foot into millville. It's so dirty and ghetto and the majority of the houses are old. There is a lot of gang and drug activity in most neighborhoods of millville. The majority of the gang activity in Vineland happens in 08360 and is around the apartments near East and West Avenues.

The malls aren't bad although I would keep away from them on friday and saturday nights. Too many kids, gangs, and fights. Sunday through Thursday is generally peaceful, although the mall is small.

As far as schooling goes, I strongly recommend Cumberland Christian School. All of the kids there are very pleasant and I have never met a single one that did drugs. Vineland High school is a very scary place. Aside from being un-airconditioned, the cameras they have are inadequate, and many fights are gone un-noticed. Kids carry weapons to school, sometimes including drugs. Heroine and "X" are the main choices aside from Marijuana the last 5 years. I Know this fact due to speaking with many many kids at my job, as well as friends who are teachers. To me it is a bunch of low-lives. There is also Sacred Heart. I'm sure the grade school is nice, but the high school is similar with drugs. St Mary's grade school has been said to be an excellent school, and I've met nothing but great kids from that school. I would say although it is costly, another great choice for high school is either OLMA(Our Lady of Mercy Academy), which is an all girls catholic prep school.... the The Prep(all boys catholic school). Although I have heard of some drug activity at the Prep, it has been minimal. I am truly surprised to have talked to many students at Cumberland christian school, yet never even heard a desire to touch drugs. The only downfall of these school is that they will cost you about $3500-9k a year. But it you want good, smart, obedient, motivated children, I really recommend it. I'd pay the cost just to avoid the low-lives of the public school system.
I remember in 9th grade at Vineland High school, I was cursed at by a teacher. Not just one curse, just like 8 in one sentence, and all I did was drop my pencil. You certainly wont find this quality of a teacher/professor at the other schools.

Well I tried to give the best review of Vineland I could from a few different aspects. Hope this helps!

Hello everyone i am pretty new to this website i always lurk so please bare with me.

I live in Millville i seen millville at its best and now its at its worst we have a lot of drug problems here drug dealers and stuff. There are some good areas around here you have to dig for them. Its sad driving and you see kids as young as 3 years old walking the streets and the parents are no where to be found. Then rude people who like to ride their bikes on the streets and people who stands there don't like the move when a car is coming .

The High School is terrible also because its old and over crowded and un-air conditioned and they have classes in trailers. Every year they always talk about building a new high school which fails. they also split the 10 grade some goes to Memorial and a few teachers are telling me the high school is getting more worse. I remember my senior year they decided to have all the teachers switch classrooms during the middle of the year. And they seem to focus too much on kids that are in advance classes.

Memorial is 9.and half of 10 grade which is no better. old run down you can see pipes and electrical stuff etc.

They are building new houses here like crazy the neighborhoods are filled with old run down houses they squeeze new houses in tight spots in bad neighborhoods. Hosing is expensive here as well they are going down a bit i wouldn't recommend getting any houses on streets near broad street which are the number streets

I give Millville Credit because they are fixing up stuff and trying to stop the drug problem. They Recently remodel the old Iga shopping center and putting new stores and restaurants in there. And the Race Track is popular spot

I hope someday i can move out of new jersey into a different state or at least out of Cumberland county.

i didn't think millvile was that bad. I've been to the new track several times and it seems lke a very isolated area. We've stayed in the comfort inn and left our track bikes outside without any issues of theft knock on wood.

Hey, I live in the 08360. It's not that the 08360 part of Vineland is bad, it's that the area bound by East, West, Oak, and Cheasnut are bad. Basically, you don't want to live in the orriginal city propper. Things are looking up though. I went to SHHS, drug use was not bad at all. Yes, there were a few kids who smoked pot, but other than that it wasn't too bad.

I grew up in Elmer and now live in Hoboken. This is rural NJ. Bridgeton, Millville, and Vineland are the big cities. Neither are particularly scary but they have been blighted due to lack of jobs. With that problem, there are certain areas that are not as nice some(just like any other place).

My cousin is a school teacher in Millville. It is neither good nor bad. Education is what you put into it.

You can live anywhere around them and have a great life. Elmer is great so is the area around it like Palatine and Centerton.

Personally I do not like Washington Twp. It is all suburban tract housing and it maybe more dangerous than Millville. Idle rich people tend to have more vices than poor people.

Millville is not as bad as the person put it...I live in Vineland...East Vineland to be exact...East Vineland is mainly filled with new homes and lots old homes...ppl who have lived here 30, 40 years...Vineland is not a bad place to live...center city has it's few issues here and there but the homicide rate in not even mentionable...as far as Millville...the gun play is mainly hear say...in center city Millville is where you will find drug dealers but the outskirts of Millville are good...as well as almost all of Vineland...
