Default Route 18 North? Brick to North Brunswick

I am considering taking a job in North Brunswick and also want to move to the Northern/Herberstville section of Brick. Does anyone know what rt 18 north is like for the morning commute? I see I can jump off of it and take back roads before I get to the mess near New Brunswick. I'm looking to keep the ride at an hour tops. Thanks for your help.

The ride through East Brunswick/New Brunswick going towards work will be where you encounter the problems. Everything else should be fine. It also depends what time you are leaving. If you are talking around 7am or so, you can be in traffic for about a half an hour. The commute from Brick to North Brunswick is already about an hour so if you are factoring in traffic, you might want to think about changing the location of your residence.

i hate driving rt 18 (the section north of Old Bridge) on a normal day, nevermind during rush. i have a friend who lived in Old Bridge commute to Piscataway and it took 1 hr, and it's only about 15 miles (maybe a little more)....

all depends on your level of tolerance I guess. i personally wouldn't move to brick knowing that commute lies ahead of me!

Default backroads

You can also take backroads once you get into EB that take you thru Milltown and into North Brunswick. You may be on the road the same amount of time, but it won't be in Rt. 18 traffic
