I Know that this was directed at someone else, but I have an uncle in Bernardsville, and one in Far Hills. I have friends all over the area. I go there often. As I said, they are only wealthier areas because there are less poor people, not more rich people...or richer rich people as you put it.
I agree with your assessment by county (bergen -vs- somerset) as to the distribution of wealth. however, i'm a little baffled now since you're mentioning actual towns. far hills and bernardsville are, no matter which way you slice it, extraordinarily wealthy and i'd be hard pressed to find wealthier towns in Bergen and Essex counties. Alpine, yes, but where else? North Caldwell? I'm not sure. We're talking Forbes, Trump and Onassis fortunes in these Somerset Cnty towns.

I was really referring to the counties/areas, and only brought up individual towns because the other poster did. But as long as we are exploring further, there is so much Wall Street wealth in Bergen and Essex that I really wouldn't know where to begin on a town by town basis. You could stick with the well known "rich towns" like Essex Fells, Short Hills, Saddle River, etc, but even then you are missing out on a lot of wealth. There are plenty of multi millionaires and even billionaires in "not so rich" towns like South Orange, West Orange, Maplewood, etc. They get lost because there are even more middle class people in those towns.

yeh, tahiti just doesn't understand that homogenous 2nd/3rd ring counties will place higher (county-wise) than 1st ring counties due to the former's lack of comparative socioeconomic diversity as being more rural...
she still hasn't responded to why New York county (Manhattan), Westchester County, Bergen County, Fairfield County CT, Los Angeles County, etc, etc weren't listed in top 10 wealthiest counties...
...Possibly because Manhattan stats mix Turtle Bay stats with Harlem, Scarsdale with Yonkers (Westchester), Alpine/Creskill/Saddle River etc with Hackensack (Bergen), Greenwich/Cos Cob with Bridgeport (Fairfield CT), and Bel-Air/Bev Hills with Compton (LA)....
she sees the fault in her entire county comparison, but still thinks Somerset trumps all said counties in terms of wealth.. LOL
then when she couldn't refute the argument she responds with name dropping..
so by that mindset, billionaire Mr. Kellog resides in Sussex county.. therefore Sussex > all NJ counties and Manhattan (since Manhattan didn't make top 10) in terms of wealth?... right
"What is the richest area in New Jersey? Where mostly rich people lives in, expensive cars, homes etc. ??"
Are you from out of town and want to short cut your research to ensure you use your time efficiently to commit robberies?
'Rich' is a relative term. You mean where Bruce or Bon Jovi live or will any area that features mid managment pharma salaried residents qualify to satify your needs?
Of course you can just look up the NJ legislative delegates and figure out where they call home as lawyers tend to live in wealthier neighborhoods.

wtf are you talking about?! I never denied bergen and essex had rich people, my comment to you was your can't deny those other counties are wealthy and don't fall in 4th place with "everything else". i also agreed with anethmd with his statement about bergen having more poor and somerset having less, what else do you want? if you want to compare areas, lets compare the section of bergen with that section of somerset - apples to apples, which is richer?
and somerset and hunterdon are not rural, and you didn't address that.

i'm not sure of the net-net of our discussion. LOL you seemed to imply that far hills/bedminster are rich but not like ....? maplewood, west orange? sorry, just not getting it. lots of towns in NJ have "rich people" but that doesn't equal "rich town", and i think that's what the OP was asking?

this is exactly what i did with my 1st post.. noting Northeast Bergen County vs Western Essex (prime area vs prime area) as opposed to the entire county itself.. if we do apples to apples...
of course, housing prices are just a part of "wealth" factor and not all inclusive..
...but 4 acres or so vs 80 acres for the same buck is pretty damn material....
though I do find prime Somerset nicer to the eye (rolling undeveloped/preserved lands), it's just much more expensive in prime Bergen..

hunterdon/somerset are comparatively rural to bergen/essex just as bergen/essex is comparatively rural to manhattan..
don't take it out of context..
the only reason why I responded was that you were the one who quickly pointed to the top 10 county list.. you still haven't responded to why New York County (Manhattan), Fairfield County (CT), etc etc don't fall in top 10 when there are much more wealth in said counties..
