Clifton hot dog mecca and culinary landmark Rutt's Hut has filed suit to stop a deli/restaurant selling wieners five miles away under the name Mutt's Hut.
Eighty-three-year-old Rutt's Hut, which is widely known for its "ripper" hot dogs, says Mutt's Hut is violating the Rutt's Hut trademark obtained from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in 1985.
Chances are this "Mutt's Hut" joint will join the legion of shiesty start up hot dog joints in NJ that deliver garbage on a bun and die within a year or so. Rutt's Hut should save themselves the legal trouble to keep the rippers ripped and the beers cheap!
I know I'm in the minority but I think Rutt's Hut is a filthy s-hole with overdone grease dogs staffed by rude people. It's a gimmick essentially but not a great hot dog experience IMO. "One all the way" and fries all the way at Hot Grill for me.
I kinda agree, I was never really inspired by Rutt's Hut either. Max's in Long Branch seemed to be a friendlier, cleaner, more fun experience.
