Relocating to Egg Harbor Township area.
Will be working in Egg Harbor Township. Any advice on where to live and where to avoid?
Is Egg Harbor Township worth considering? If so, where specifically - Bargaintown, Sculville, Cardiff, English Creek, Steelmanville, McKee City, Farmington?
What about the surrounding areas: Linwood, Northfield, Somers Point, Upper, Corbin City, Mays Landing, Hamilton...? Would HammontownWilliamstown be a good choice and would it be too far a commute? Any others I should consider.
A nice lake to fish on would be a bonus!
Many Thanks!!

Egg Harbbor Township
Where are you relocating from and how much are how much you planning to spend on a home will determine your location. Where are you working in EH? My husband and I relocated to NC from So. NJ 4 yrs. ago because of how expensive NJ became. kelsie

Hey weberama,
I grew up in Linwood, the next town over from EHT. I'm now 35 and currently reside in Greenville, SC. I'm dumbfounded that the house my parents bought for $70K in 1975 now costs them $9000/year in property taxes.
South Jersey, in my biased opinion is nicer, though a bit more rural than North Jersey. All of the surrounding areas of EHT, save for Pleasantville, which ironically is not pleasant whatsoever are quite nice with good, safe neighborhoods and better than average schools. I loved growing up with the beach in such close proximity but am sad by such drastic changes.
If you have any other ?'s feel free to ask me.

Kelsie, We're moving from Clinton, NJ. I assume we'll look for a house in the $350,000 range.

We were in Egg Harbor today looking at Tim Schaeffer's community down there.. We put a deposit on a lot in Winslow (White Cedars) and needed to look at the spec house they had in Egg Harbor. It was my 1st time down there, we wondered if it would work for us but after driving through decided not to change towns due to the heavy shore traffic.
If you're looking for new communities, Tim Schaeffer builds a nice looking quality house from what we could see. We checked out the major builders, most houses looked like they slapped them together. If you can find a community near where you want to relocate to, I think you'd be happy with the price / quality.
We drove the back roads from Egg harbor to Winslow, it didn't take long, so maybe it's worth looking into.

We are looking into moving to the 55+ in EHT. I am so afraid that the taxes will sky-rocket when the 2008 year approaches and the mega casino that is being built in AC is finished. We will be on a fixed income and I would hate to have to move again. Any advise about what to do???? We like the house and the community but NJ taxes are tuff on the pocket-book. HELP

If your retiring, move out of NJ, taxes are only going to get worst. We are in our 50s and my husband was lucky to get a transfer. It was our ticket out.
We knew we would leave when he retired , but this way we were able to move our daughter with us. Sure, it was her senior year of HS but like her me, she was ready for a new adventure.
The funny part of it was that her first friend was from San Fransisco orginally and so was mine!
