Hello all,

H E L P!

My son will be interning this summer in Florham Park, NJ and is in need of a decent priced apartment or room for rent for 2 months.

I've been searching online on ApartmentGuide.com, Rent.com Roommates.com (and even Craigslist) for apartments in Morristown, Whippany, Cedar Knolls, E. Hanover, Madison, Morehousetown, Livingston, Northfield, Chatham, Summit, ShortHills and Irvington just based on Mapquest and Wikipedia are these close enough to Florham Park or am I way off? He does not want to take his car with him so will be relying on public transportation to get to work against my advice...

Any thoughts, leads or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

How about a short-term rental like in a Residence Inn?

He needs to bring his car if he is working in Florham Park.

There really is NO public transportation in that area. (there are trains for those who commute to NYC, not suitable for a local commute) In order to get to work he really will need a car.

As for as places to look for an apartment, Madison, Chatham, Morristown are all great options. (esp. Morristown, as there is a pretty vibrant 20-something scene for him to enjoy, a nice walkable downtown with a good array of stores, bars and restaurants) Morehousetown and Northfield are areas of Livingston, and Livingston is more of a "family" community than place for singles. As there are several Colleges and Universities in the Madison/Chatham/Convent Station area he most likely will have better luck finding a summer rental (sub-lease perhaps?)there than in other communities, where the landlord will likely require a 1 year lease. Forget Irvington, pretty far commute, and not a great place to live -(high crime)

Good luck!
