I mailed my state income tax in and sent it certified mail. They received it on 3/5/12 and I got my direct deposit refund about a week ago so you should be receiving it shortly. If you opted to get a check it will obviously take a little longer. If you mail in your return ALWAYS send it certified so you know that they received it and when.

I filed in february and received a notice that i had to send in my transcript, which i did in march and i'm still waiting. I call every two weeks and get the same message, " your return is being processed but no further info can be given at this time." i agree with most of you and believe the state has no money and is paying back ppl as they can. It's not fair i need that money as a nest egg to move!

No, its not possible that the state has no money, as our esteemed governor constantly trumpets the spectacular "NJ recovery" that has taken place on his watch--whether that is reality or not.

On a more serious note, I filed electronically in March, and received my refund via direct deposit approximately 2 1/2 weeks later. I suspect that the delay in your case indicates that you are being audited, but that is just supposition on my part.

By the way, what is the "transcript" that you referred to?

I sent th em my return and they asked for a transcript with documents. I sent that then they wanted me to send a letter stating if I was married or not so I mailed that off. Now. It has been well over 90 days since the last request and I have called and spoke to a representative and she said they have not yet reviewed my last document and I should receive some type of response to my last document. Waiting since March 9th 2012

I can relate to everyone having this problem with a delay state return. I filed mines E-file on February 7th and after nearly a month later, still nothing!! Every time I call I'm told the same thing, your refund is being process, (Really) after a month later, I'm starting to think I'm not going get my money. I don't have any offsets so I don't know what the hold up is, but I will certainly pay the state a visit so that I can get some answers. It's crazy when you owe the state they take your money instantly, but they want to sit on other people money.

My delay has been three years, like the age of this thread.

Are your mines located in NJ, or in a different state?
Are you talking about a personal income tax return, or an income tax return for your mining business?

I ask because, while it appears that NJ doesn't levy any special taxes on mines, many other states do so.

Is it possible that you failed to submit a particular form or schedule that relates to the mines that you own?
