Default Anyone have success at keeping squirrels off your lawn?

After the snow melted, all the little holes that squirrels dug to hide acorns reared their ugly heads. I live under tall oak trees, so this may be a fairly persistent problem.

I'm going to have to reseed a bunch of the lawn, and I'd like to be sure the squirrels stay the hell away. I saw that some people suggested spraying a mix of cayenne, black, and white pepper and water on plants to keep them out of the gardens, but spraying down the yard might require a pretty good amount of pepper.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to keep my hard hole-free? I'm pretty sure trapping and euthanizing the squirrels is going to be unproductive, seeing as unless I eradicate all squirrels on the block they'll keep on having baby squirrels.

Any suggestions of products that I can spread across the yard to make digging highly unappealing?

I cut down my oak tree. No more acorns. I don't know about lawns, but I've used moth balls/crystals in my flower gardens to keep squirrels away. They hate the odor.

there's a book, can't remember, the exact name, but will look tonight, about "green lawn maintenance". it talks about concoctions you can mix and spray to keep different critters away. it's usually pretty simple. i'll post the book name tonight, and check it for the squirrel remedies.
