Commute to 200 Kimball in Parsippany from Morristown vs. Montclair
I will be starting a new job in Parsippany.
Trying to decide between Morristown vs. Montclair as a place to buy/rent.
Which location would give me an easier commute to and from work?
On google maps, it says from Parsippany to Morristown is 15 mins, and from Parsippany to Montclair is abour 25 mins.....
Wonder what the real times are during peak hour traffic?
Any help would be appreciated.

ur lucky they modded the transit here to montclair at AM rush you have 874 then go willowbrook and 191/195 some trips go to montclair here is the link http://www.njtransit.com/pdf/bus/T1191.pdf and http://www.njtransit.com/pdf/bus/T1871.pdf there the 874/871 go to morristown from parsippany and are NOT SLOW. also at willowbrook there is 704/705 to montclair lakeland also serves willowbrook Its easier on NJT than it appears http://www.njtransit.com/pdf/bus/T0704.pdf you have too many options 28,704/705,195/191 all go to montclair from willowbrook and willowbrook is easy to reach from lakeland bus and or 871/874 874 being the faster alternative while 871 gets u to the train but I wouldnt trust 871

ur lucky the bus is walking distance from you and is slightly faster than rush hour traffic due to the fact the willowbrook buses use back roads

It's a reverse commute on I-280 (traffic is much worse headed towards Newark in the morning), but it's always a bear to get to I-280 in the first place from Montclair. Why those two towns?

Why those 2 towns? Well I've always been a city gal. From what I know morristown and montclair are the only two towns that has a greater concentration of restaurants, shops, etc.
So far from all the responses I still have no idea which commute would be easier. Guess the only way to find out is to switch hotels and try them out one by one.

LSB M, I'm assuming you will have a car, right? Well, in any case, Morristown is much closer and much more convenient to Parsippany than Montclair. Your commute from Morristown to Parsippany wouldn't even require you to get on any highways...From Morristown, it's just a hop skip and a jump to Ridegdale Ave. and then switch to South/North Jefferson Rd. and it's a straight shot to 200 Kimball in Parsippany.
Morristown also has cheaper rents (or cheaper property taxes if you plan on buying).
But if you are a hardcore city gal, Montclair IS more city-ish than Morristown. For a daily commute, though, Morristown would be much more convenient.

Where in Parsippany are you working at? Because if for some reason you choose Morristown you can save on gas and take NJT if you work near Route 46. http://www.morrisdot.org/Docs/871_874_20110402.pdf (broken link)
Also limited bus service between Montclair and Parsippany via Bloomfield Ave and 46: http://www.njtransit.com/pdf/bus/T0029.pdf
